Summary

Summary
Toru gets it he does, really. Bad missions happen all the time, sometimes the information you get has changed. People can't teleport (or, at least, no one alive can teleport) to give information and say the moment everything has changed. Still, Toru thinks his luck is in the negatives the moment decides to keep a fake corpse on him. Just, you know, for in the case of an emergency.
(Here's the thing, sometimes there are too many lies and sometimes something - someone - can unveil the lies. The world isn't nice or good, and it shows.)

Summary
Sasuke is finally a ninja and can make an active attempt to change the world around him, just like Toru has. He's ready to take on the world and fight back, to reach beyond the shield Toru offers and grasp everything around him. Naruto, along with the other new genins, are prepared to strive for their goals and beyond, to work hard and become strong and powerful. Meanwhile, Toru continues to fight for what he wants and what he loves, but Uzushio is a call on the wind still. He doesn't know how much longer he can ignore her call for him to go home.

Summary
Toru leaves Konoha, leaving behind people who now have to find themselves living without him. This causes a few changes and, most importantly, results in Sasuke swearing an oath to bring Toru back.
Meanwhile, Toru finds himself amidst rubbles and ruins having finally answered Uzushio's call. With danger haunting his footsteps and enemies staring him down, Toru will have to draw on everything he has to survive and bring Uzushio back to its full glory. Nonetheless, with the knowledge that the sea never dies, it's difficult to imagine him failing.
However, outside of the lives of Sasuke and Toru, danger is growing and growing and it is nothing like the ninja world has ever seen before.

Summary
[Warning: Cockroaches, bastard children, war, rumours, whispers. You must continue. There is no other option now.]
Imagine, for a moment, that a half-blood Uchiha is thrown out onto Konoha's streets, (do not think that such a thing has a name). Imagine, for a moment, that there is a war and every able-person is pushed to help, (a child, thrown into the war, as cannon fodder and not expected to survive). Imagine, for a moment, that a child meant to die survives, (do not think about how easy it is to break, in a war). But such a thing, of course, could not happen. The history books will talk of a Konoha soldier who survived the impossible and fought, (they will not talk about the corpses of children left on the battleground). The history books will not record the rumours and whispers, (but they will be the most telling). Or, at least, that's what happens in Konoha.
An AU of an AU, wherein Toru Uchiha ends up born earlier and, for several reasons, experiences a life very different from the one we've already seen. This doesn't require any other books in the series to have been read, technically.
And cockroaches are a lot less important than they sound, I promise.Series

Summary
In one world, Toru Uchiha will die and that will be the end of it. This is not that world.
The Warring Clans Era is an awful time to be alive and clans are throwing children to the frontlines and watching them drop and doing nothing. Toru is one of those many children - at least, he is until Izuna sees him fighting. Through Izuna's persistence and a mission gone wrong, Izuna manages to become friends with Toru and the world is changed by it. Then again, Toru's always had that effect. He might look only to his small part of the world, but the ripples are not so insignificant as they seem.
(Or where a thrice-born Toru is thrown into a world of war and blood, Izuna decides to make a friend outside of his brother, and Konoha is founded on the back of friendship rather than blood. Happy endings don't come from sacrifice and trauma and war and blood, it turns out. Happy endings come from what happens after.)

OR before Temari is ready, she places the Kazekage hat on her head. But she has been courting treason and planning to be Kage for many years. Her plans might have moved up on the timeline, but they are still there. Before that, however, she is only a child facing a world of danger with only her brother beside her. Not much changes over the years, but, at the same time, everything does.
Technically a side-scene for the Sea Never Dies series but can be read alone too. Quick explanation for something is given in the first note.

Uzushio falls and Toru dies, but there are so many other stories out there. Uzushio is not one person. Uzushio had been a village. Uzu no Kuni had been a country. Kirigakure's actions touched all of them, killed so many of them, who will tell their stories? (The sea. It's always been the sea.) Then there are the stories Kiri would not want shared, because those ninjas have their own tales to tell to. (The sea hears their stories and so the sea will tell them too.)

Summary
It starts with Toru and his team coming back three days late from the ANBU too-long period, coming back with torture wounds. The Sandaime Hokage sees this and thinks. Thinks about another boy, too young and too ruined by the world. He thinks of geniuses and the way they fall and fracture and turn sharp, jagged shards inward on themselves. He pulls Toru’s file, reads his missions, and says enough is enough. He disbands the ANBU team without letting anyone say no.
(He does not see the way Toru relaxes, the way he grows in leaps and bounds, the way he grins and smiles and laughs, the way he is happier, the way he leans into his ANBU teammates without fear or worry or stress; he does not try to see.)
