Summary
Darkness bathes the room, tempered only by the light that slips in from the street lamps outside. It’s not enough light to see Peter’s expression, but Wade has seen it everyday, from across the dinner table and the bed when Peter unabashedly watches him undress, that he knows Peter’s eyes are bursting with love. He can picture those eyebrows, that Peter plucks when he thinks Wade isn’t around, tilting together ever so slightly, his lips closed and smiling.
Deadpool wonders why Peter loves him, Peter tells him.

He looks, wrapped in moonlight and darkness, eyes made of obsidian, celestial. Whatever has made Peter jolt awake so abruptly recedes from the forefront of his brain and he relaxes into their dirty sheets. His ragged breathing slows and Wade covers him with a blanket.

Summary
Peter’s breaths come in short, rapid bursts. He tries to speak in between body shaking sobs and fast breaths, any words he manages to form dissolving as he cries harder. Deadpool shushes the boys babbling and puts a hand on the back of the youths head. He rocks gently with Peter in his arms, murmuring soothing words he isn’t sure Peter can hear.
Finally, after minutes of heartwrenching sobbing, Peter says something he can understand. It’s a small, broken explanation.
“You died.”

Summary
His safe word. What is his safe word? Kettle corn. His safe word that he’s never used before but has had since he got with Wade. Kettle corn. All he has to do is say kettle corn.
He wills himself to say it. Screams the words in his mind. They won’t come out. His mouth refuses to cooperate and his body is giving up on him too. It’s like he’s deep underwater, all his movements slowed. Can he breathe? Is he breathing? He can’t tell.
Peter and Deadpool decide to try something new in the bedroom, with less than stellar results.

Summary
Peter stands and it’s then his body decides to betray him.
His vision flickers and he feels the sensation of free falling. Someone yells his name and he doesn’t register the pain of hitting the ground. When the world stops spinning he realizes he’s in a position he knows well.
A strong arm is curled under his bent knees and another is around his back. He’s pressed to a brawny frame that emanates a suffocating heat and smells of gun oil and musk. The warmth and scent envelope him like a blanket and he struggles to lifts his head.

Summary
Deadpool is suddenly in front of him, one arm out straight, his palm flat on the door beside Peter’s head. His other hand grips Peter’s chin and forces him to look his Daddy in the eye. “You were a very naughty boy, weren’t you?” He purrs, leaning in to nuzzle Peter’s neck with an affection not matched in his dark tone. “Teasing Daddy with your flirting like a little slut.”
Peter’s thighs tremble and his adam's apple bobs as he gulps. He’d thought Deadpool had forgotten about that and now he’s not sure if he’s glad or terrified that he remembered.
“I’m ready for whatever Daddy wants to do to me.”

Summary
“Alright, now that I’m all gussied up I suppose you want to parade me around town?”
MJ shakes her head. “Nah, I’m not a sadist. You can go home, I’m tired of you.” Her deadpan tone conflicts with the smirk curling her mouth.
“So, what? You just wanted a doll to dress up?”
A shrug, and then, “May friended me on Facebook.”
Peter looks at MJ strangely, not seeing how her answer related to his question. Mirth sparkles in her brown eyes. “I saw all the pictures she has posted...” she trails off, waiting for realization to dawn on him.
It doesn’t. “There’s, like, an entire photo album of you wearing dresses as a kid, Pete. You were a cute kid, by the way.”

Summary
Peter seems content to lie there, close enough to hear his heartbeat.
Wade would normally relish moments like this, but right now he can only think about how one day Peter won’t be there to hug him like this. That one day, a day that creeps stealthily closer, Peter will die.
It could be as Spider-Man, cut down in his prime. It could be when Peter is old and has had to retire super-heroing. He might be resigned to a wheelchair, the parts of his body once so strong gradually failing.

Summary
Wade doesn’t know how to answer that. He hasn't learned how to speak about the things that shaped him. He doesn’t know how to talk about his dead mother, or the cold lips of a troop leaders smothering his. He doesn’t know how to say that if he had tried harder years ago, he wouldn’t be alive today.
So he says nothing.
