Summary
After the final Zeknova at Yohmagn'tho, Quess has found herself hurled to Earth, strapped to a stretcher and cut off from those who gave her a home. She's not going to let herself be stopped now, not when she's made the decision to stay, permanently. Kamille Bidan is angry at the world, at the Olympians and everything else making him feel powerless. But he still has a heart under those coils of rage. Machu and Nyaan finally found the freedom they wanted and the most important part of it was ripped away. And they have the mobile suits to tear apart what's in the way of getting that back.

Summary
The Zeon war of rebellion ravaged the Earth Sphere for two long years, and from the ashes of war rose a new world. The year is Universal Century 0087, and the now broken United Federation languishes in the shadow of what it once was, defeated by the Principality, now reborn under the leadership of Garma Zabi, darling of his people. As the Zeon populations move forward to a future of progress, the United Federation plots to topple this peace built on untold billions of graves. The clandestine military intelligence organization known as The Titans slips its fingers across the stars, attempting to grasp a long-forgotten relic of the war from their enemy.
All the while, a young girl named Dalia Lun is caught in the middle of this international plot and finds herself confronted by the reality behind the false peace of her life within the space colonies. Summary
On Earth for the second time, Kamille and Char are travelling to a rendezvous point with Karaba, trekking through the Tanzanian mountains. Kamille is interested in learning about his seniors' former exploits, Char is interested in trying once again to convince Amuro to join them in space, and Amuro is mostly interested in dodging uncomfortable conversations and out-drinking Char Aznable.
The scene is set sometime before episode 35, "Storm over Kilimanjaro," although with the lightest of actual checks for series continuity.
Nothing other than foul language would rate this fic higher than anything else in series canon, although if you'd like to skip Amuro's PTSD monologue, once Kamille starts getting insistent about hearing some war stories, do a text search to jump to the phrase "Kamille, you need to sleep."
The fic is not Charmuro per se, but I am, so if that's a flavor you dislike, please use discretion.
