Beautiful story of heartbreak, 2nd chances, LISTENING vs. hearing, and reconciliation attempt. It's a thought provoking concept of what constitutes love, desire, sexual fulfilment vs satisfaction vs. release.
Also, author shared intimate note at end of fic that inspired me to initiate a really nice exchange in the comments. 🙂

“Vulcan biology,” Spock said.
“You mean… The biology of Vulcans?” Jim repeated his words almost exactly, slowly realizing their true meaning. “Biology as in… reproduction?”
A chill ran down Jim’s spine.
It wasn’t exactly convenient that Spock’s situation concerned Vulcan reproduction. They were on Earth long before First Contact, and the only two people in the city who knew about the existence of Vulcan were Jim and Spock, making the latter the only person familiar with the mysterious biological ailment he himself was suffering. No, this wasn’t convenient at all. It was very, very bad.Or: what if Spock went through his first pon farr in New York City circa 1930 while he and Jim waited for McCoy's arrival?
