Summary
A select few of the crew on the Finaliser are shapeshifters and every so often shapeshifters are forced to change into their animal form. Most of the higher up officers take supplements to stop the transformation, but circumstances force Hux to go without them. Thus, he is forced to prowl around the Finaliser in his shifted form, but it has been decades since Hux last shifted, he has to acclimatise to his long forgotten animal side. Those onboard the Finaliser who shift, nearly all shift into large predators, but Hux is a small ginger housecat and Ren happens to take a liking to the small cat.

It’s not until lunch time that Buck realises he hasn’t told Eddie that Christopher is sick. His phone has stayed in the kitchen while Buck has been rotating between rinsing out the bowl, changing the bed sheets, showering Christopher again, rinsing out the bowl...it’s been a lot. He’s barely had a second to even think about picking up his phone so when he finally does close to one o’clock, he’s not expecting the forty missed calls from Eddie and a fucking tsunami warning from two hours ago.

Summary
Eddie thinks, as he munches on a fry, that he’s angry. He’s angry that Buck was ever wronged, that Buck even felt he had to give him that look. He’s angry that he can’t just fix it, that he’s not good at fixing things but he’s really good at messing things up. He’s angry because he’s afraid of failing when Buck needs him.
He’s angry at Buck because he’s not here, and he’s angry because it’s easier than grief, because Eddie thinks this might be a type of grief. Because he misses Buck when he’s right there, because Eddie thinks this might be another thing like all the other things he needs to deal with, the things he pushes down so deep because just letting them sit around is enough to hurt.
