Summary
“Will you teach me?” she asks, an unconscious echo of her first approach to him.
“That’s not what we’ve been doing, Samira?”
She finishes the rest of her beer and puts it back down on the table with a loud clunk. “Will you teach me to do a crike with my eyes closed?” She looks up at him. Her turn to counter, now, with a purposeful, “Jack?”
His jaw ticks. She smiles.
After Pittfest, Samira asks Dr. Abbot for a crash course in combat medicine. She gets more than she bargained for.

Summary
Jack Abbot isn’t entirely sure how, but less than five minutes after entering Donovan’s Tavern and making his way to the room in the back, he has a beer in his hand and Samira Mohan in his lap.

Summary
Samira and Jack had sex at medical conference in New York almost four years ago. They did not exchange last names, or indeed any other pertinent biographical information.
Dr Samira Mohan, intern, has a three year old daughter.
Unsurprisingly, these two facts are connected.

Summary
Jack Abbot was very clearly not the kind of guy that Samira Mohan was into.
Which was fine. There was a whole laundry list of reasons that women didn’t flock to Jack Abbot. He was too short: women expected alphas to be taller. He was approaching fifty. He had a job he was completely dedicated to that did not lend itself to a normal sleeping cycle— or a normal life, for that matter. He had one factory-model leg and one titanium and carbon fiber aftermarket fix for a right-side BKA he’d undergone in Germany. He was chock-full of C-PTSD and anxiety and depression and maladaptive coping mechanisms that ten years of therapy had finally put a slight dent in. He had a wife named Maggie who’d been dead for almost seven years. And he hadn’t had sex in those seven years, apart from the handful of emergency DRIs he’d been able to help with here at the Pitt.
----------
Abbot is the Pitt's emergency contact for designation-related incidents.
Mohan doesn't quite know how she feels about that.

Summary
When Samira decides to leave Pittsburgh, it’s because she wants to. Emergency medicine is her north star and, most days, her reason for getting up in the morning. Finishing her residency is an achievement she has worked herself to the bone for. It is the sum total of the legacy she forced upon herself when her father died.
Three days after Robby trades in his cross-country motorcycle trip for a less than voluntary psych hold, Samira stares down at the mobile phone in her hands. Scared and sad, and as sure about it as she has been anything in her whole life. There is nothing for her here anymore - maybe there hasn’t been for a while. She has made mistakes; sometimes those mistakes have cost other people their lives. She has cried, and been berated by the people who were supposed to support her.
She has stood on the roof of PTMC and breathed in humid summer air. Wondered if the world would be better without her in it; if it would be easier if it all just stopped. No-one comes to talk her down or pull her away from the edge; Samira Mohan rescues herself instead.
And when the HR director at St Michael’s in Newark calls, she answers on the second ring.
