Summary
Everyone knows to stay away from the Grays.
No one can explain where they came from despite endless theories. The facts they do know are simple: enormous domes of fog scattered around the world without rhyme or reason, blossoming from nowhere and swallowing everything within. They materialize without warning, with no pattern as to when they arrive, and once a dome appears, there's no getting rid of it. As soon as a Gray appears, no human soul leaves.
The things without a soul, of course, are a different story entirely.
With his little brother's life on the line, Davey Jacobs braves the mysterious Gray in search of a cure—a witch who can use Davey's own soul to heal Les. Except, the world that Davey finds inside the perpetual fog is nothing like he expected, and the task that seemed so simple and final turns on its head, even more so when he is rescued by a charming and terrifying monster that calls itself Jack Kelly.
