Summary
After Arthur and Javier saved him, John took a turn for the worst. Each day he gets sicker and sicker while the rest of the gang struggle harder in the icy depths of Colter. Storms rage and food is sparse. Seeing no other option, Dutch makes a call. John can't possibly manage the trip down, so Dutch decides they must leave without him.
The decision brings chaos to the gang, instilling divisiveness within its members. Arthur finds himself suffering a crisis of faith. Through all this he's sure of one thing; Dutch be damned, he won't be cutting John loose.Bookmarked by Ashfell

Summary
John Marston is ambushed by the Pinkertons and dies in 1911 after hunting down all his old gang members, not getting to finish the happy life with his family. Why then does he wake up in 1899 on Colter with Javier and Arthur rescuing him?
It seems fate, or a more malevolent force, has given John a second chance and now he has to live among his familial ghosts as he figures out how he can fix it this time. But, people are getting concerned by his new behaviour- what's there to expect from a 39 year mind in a 26 year old body? Or more importantly, what's there to expect from a hardened man forced to live next to everybody who betrayed him?
THIS IS JUST MY EXCUSE TO WRITE RDR 1 JOHN MARSTON, THE LOML. I wish the Van der Linde gang could have seen what a fucking force of nature he became- both as a mature man but also the fastest gunslinger in the west. Took down the rebellion in Mexico and all of Micah's gang in the mountains without batting an eye: he deserves MORE CREDIT.
I'm not sure where I'm going to go with this because it's been a while since I've played either game but I hate mischaracterising Marston. If anybody has any advice, let me know.
