And at evenfall he told himself that tonight there would be no dreams; no solid weight of a body against his, no honeyed curls falling across his shoulders as a fine-featured frustration too fair for his own good pressed into him, face in the crook of his neck. Surely tonight Dunk won’t take that face in his hands, run a finger along the cleft of his chin, down his royal neck, kiss the eyelids sheltering those tortured eyes that Dunk couldn’t unsee, couldn’t forget as much as he entreated.
No appeal of may I? or like this? or please? No lissome thighs resting atop Dunk’s larger ones. No tell-tale sound of skin against skin. No intimacies that Dunk had never experienced anywhere outside of reveries, and his own voice, broken, Daeron, Daeron, Daeron.
Not tonight, surely not tonight. There must be reprieve from such a haunting.

Hey, love! What’s wrong?
The terrace seems weirdly quiet and empty without Eddie’s presence. Eddie, who is all loud and wild on the outside, but kind and considerate on the inside. Who will gladly reopen the scars of his own past to make a sad little boy feel better. Who calls Steve cute, and a softie, and thinks his son is the greatest kid in the world.
Steve sighs and runs a hand through his hair. He digs his fingers into the bridge of his nose so hard his nails leave little indents in the sensitive skin there. Then, he lets out a heavy breath, types and hits send before he can overthink it for too long.
I think I’m fucked.

Summary
Steve, who has just ripped through the tape binding his wrists in an impressive feat of strength, freezes mid movement. His nostrils flare and Eddie can practically see the moment it clicks for him, even before his eyes flick down.
“Wait a second,” he mutters, and then his eyes are back on Eddie’s face, wide and panicked and disbelieving. “You are-”
“Pretty fucking hot when tied up?” Eddie rasps around an aching jaw, voice still hoarse with misuse. “Why, gee, who knew you were into that kinda stuff, Harrington?”
“Stop joking, that’s not what I meant!”
The command is sharp, and Eddie finds his jaw clenching shut against his conscious will. A red-hot flush is crawling up Steve's neck, but his face is full of serious concern.
“You're in heat,” he murmurs.

“What the fuck?” Steve blurts. Again. He's starting to lose count of how often it's been. “Who do you even think you are, you fucking weirdo?”
The guy cocks his head in confusion, but only for a second. Then, that infuriating grin slips back on. He's handsome, in a dangerous and rugged way, with his wild hair and bruised lip.
“Apologies, he rumbles. “Where are my manners?”
And then, without getting up off the ground, he reaches out and takes Steve’s hand in his. Steve watches, heart in his throat and eyes wide with confusion, how the guy bends into a dramatic bow and reverently kisses his own blood off his raw knuckles.
“The name is Edward. King Edward of the Woodland Mountains. Also oh-so-aptly known as Edward the Banished, though my friends just call me Eddie. And you, my dear …”
He looks up, all glinting eyes under dark lashes and Steve needs to swallow against the lump clogging his throat.
“You're going to be the one who saves me.”

Steve makes a desperate noise in the back of his throat that has Eddie’s vision turn white for several moments, blood rushing heavily in his ears. And then he feels it against his hip. Steve is just as hard as he is, branding Eddie even through two layers of jeans.
“Steve,” Eddie gasps, because his mouth wants to test out his name when he’s allowed to feel like this. Hot and heavy and like he’s going to melt into his mattress.
“You touch me all the time, drag your fingers all over me, rub your cheek against me like a cat.” Steve’s words sound like an accusation, lips brushing against the shell of his ear. “And all of that just because you like how my sweaters feel to the touch?”
OR Eddie gets caught hugging Steve's sweater, and Steve's solution is to romance the hell out of Eddie in return.

If someone told Steve a few years ago that he would regularly lift Eddie Munson into his arms, he would have advised the poor soul to take a long vacation at Pennhurst.
But here he is, holding Eddie against the humming fridge in his dark kitchen, fingers digging into the flesh of his thighs, with not a single inch of space between their bodies, Eddie's wide, dark eyes fixed on his.
"Two is a coincidence..." Eddie mutters, licking his lips, letting the rest of the sentence dwindle out as Steve's eyes fall shut.

Season five fix-it where instead of exotic matter, they find Eddie Munson locked in a Mindflayer cocoon and hooked up to the hivemind on the roof of Hawkins lab.
Hoping that they can bring Eddie back to consciousness and get information on the whereabouts of Vecna, Steve volunteers to enter Eddie's mind, trying to make up for the guilt that's been eating at him ever since he left Eddie's body behind in the Upside Down.
Eddie's mind, of course, is a treacherous place full of riddles and fantasy-inspired worlds that Steve is hardly equipped to navigate. Especially when Eddie, assuming that Steve is a figment of his own imagination, starts flirting with him like there's no tomorrow.
OR: Steve falls in love by seeing ALL of Eddie Munson.

Steve had a bad feeling, and this wasn't the first time it had happened.
For as long as he could remember, he had always had hunches. Hunches about events that hadn't even happened yet but warned him before the shoe could drop. He was used to them. To the bad omens. To the anxiety they brought.
Maybe, that's why he was as tense as a coiled spring when they entered Hawkins Lab, as gray as decayed as the rest of the Upside Down. But not even a hunch could have prepared him for what happened that day. He couldn't have braced himself for the party splitting up. He couldn't have braced himself for an argument with Dustin, much less the boy's violent reaction at him bringing Eddie into the conversation.
He couldn't have expected to crack his head open into the ground, nor the world that waited for him when he opened his eyes once again. Neither the spider that bit him, or the powers that would later bring him.
And when this peculiar world welcomed him, he couldn't help but wonder.
Was that Munson? In a big sign? Wearing a hero-like costume?
And why on Earth was he blond?
