Reed was a loud bastard. RK900 had gotten used to it quickly - not every time the man raised his voice was he in a real distress. He was just dramatic and all over the place.
Even Reed himself admitted to it. If RK900 tried to show concern when he made a painful sound, Reed would just curse him loudly and say that he's fine. And he was. Just bruised. So RK900 stopped asking. They didn't have time for every single nip of pain Reed imagined he was feeling, and luckily they were on the same side on that.

‘If it depends on me, then no. You won’t’ he said eventually and relief washed across Hank, making the previous guilt disappear. For exactly 5 seconds, before Connor opened his mouth again and decided to burst his bubble ‘but I can’t guarantee that other people won’t try to interfere with that decision of mine’
Hank scoffed at that, dry and heavy. Realistic. Same old Connor.
Well, that was still the closest thing to the truth, probably. And that’s what he wanted to hear, right?
Except no, that was not at all what he wanted to hear, not even close to it.

Summary
After the success of the Revolution, things are far from being over. Yes, the army might have retreated and yes, they finally might be recognized as the living beings they are, but that still doesn’t mean androids are completely free, at least not in a political way.
So after a phone call with President Warren, Markus and The Gang (now with an additional Connor) embark on a journey to Washington D.C. to start negotiations with the humans to ensure the rights of their people. Meanwhile they all try to handle their own personal issues by themselves (and later, together).
Aka political shenanigans with the gang, while Connor is trying to figure out who he is and who he wants to be. With a side-dish of him keeping in touch with Hank through the phone, which is at first just them being all buddies and cops, until it all starts bordering on being more than Just Friendly Talks In The Middle Of The Night.

Gavin often became skittish after sex, demanding space. Nines took up the habit of tidying up whatever mess they made between where their sex began and where it ended. He would right tables, put fallen books back on shelves, and wait. It was exasperating. Anytime he pushed, Gavin slammed down his walls, erecting fortifications so complete that an entire army of RK900s would have a hard time breaching them.
