Bruce immediately begins to panic, because Damian should know his father would never panic, so whatever has happened, whatever Damian claims he has under control, is undoubtedly going to make Bruce panic. Like right now. He's panicking.
But just as Bruce pushes himself to sit up on the bed, with great difficulty due to the bandages across his stomach, eyes darting over Damian to find any injuries —

“I knew I could count on you,” Batman says. “We’ll celebrate when I’m back.”
That’s a bold-faced lie if Damian has ever heard one. “If you wish. Have a good trip, Father.”
An annoyingly Richard-sounding voice prods him to tack on an “I love you” but Batman cuts the call before he can decide.
Damian closes the tab and sits back in the chair with a huff and crossed arms.
"I cannot believe Timothy's overbearing friends and his paramour wished me a happy birthday before Father did," He grumbles, but it's without heat. For whatever reason, his father not remembering doesn’t phase him in the slightest. It’s only to be expected, really. Damian has never been a priority to him, and it doesn’t bother him as much as it used to.
"Oi, brat! Hurry up, we're leaving in an hour! Do you want to go shooting with me or not?!"
"I'm coming!" Damian yells, twisting around in his seat. Jason had moved back a very important meeting so he could take Damian shooting, so he won't snap and risk him rescinding the offer.
Damian doesn't need to be Father's first priority. In his siblings’ lives, he’s the youngest. That means he will always take priority.
