“I was certain that that was the end for me.”
“It was” Alex mumbles under their breath almost like they didn’t mean to say it at all.
“What do you mean it was?” they ask skeptically.
Surprise streaks over their friend's face confirming their assumption they hadn’t meant to say that aloud as they breath out. They let out a huff before in hushed tones stating “I told you I wouldn’t let you die, I promised myself even. And I am not one to make promises lightly.”
