Summary
James loved Regulus. Yes, maybe Regulus didn't love him back, but James absolutely adored Sirius’ younger brother. If he knew one thing, that was his love for Regulus. He would follow the other man to the end of the world. But, when Regulus showed up in Hogwarts at the start of James' second year as a first year, James didn't even really care. Sirius was one thing, his best friend, his everything while Regulus was just somebody James didn't know and at the time didn't even want to get to know. And even then, back then Regulus wasn't really Regulus.
Or basically a really tragic jegulus fic with much angst and no happy ending

“The power made me feel alive, I could be me.” He stared at the shadows that no longer welcomed him as one of their own, instead it felt like they were closing in on him, preying on his senses and infecting his body.
“I’m surprised you reverted back.” Owen said honestly. “I didn’t regain the disease on my skin after being cured.”
Scott glanced at him. “You said your skin was irritated.”
