'As if. But it's kinda great to imagine that I'll run into Dazai san again like that.'It's great to dream.
But when his ears picked up on the sound of bubbles and someone choking under water, he realised lady luck seemed to have something against him today that she was teaming up with lady gaslight.
So, he slowly turned around, his eyebrows twitching at the sight of Dazai's floating legs in the river.
This has to be fake.
Dazai was supposed to be dead.
OR
Atsushi time travels somehow and ends up where he and Dazai first met. The only problem being, he doesn’t believe it’s real and wants the ‘illusion’ to break so he can go back and save the only couple of people left behind in the war.
He doesn’t want to lose the ones that are luckily alive.

“You aren’t fucking protecting me!” Tommy shouts. The car is heavy with jagged breaths, Wilbur catching his and Tommy finding his own, too. “You’re stifling me! You’re fucking killing me like a bug! I’m dying, Wilbur, I can’t live like this—”
“Oh, please—”
“Don’t pretend like you’re not happy to see me like this!” Tommy interrupts sharply, leaning forward in his seat and craning his neck to get a good look at him. “If you’re so fucking obsessed with controlling everything I do, you must like it when I’m fucking miserable, right?”
or: When Phil dies and Techno moves across the country as a result, Wilbur and Tommy are the only ones left in the house. Tensions rise over the months, and after the nastiest fight they've had in ages, Tommy catches the first bus he can find out of the state to crash at Dream's house. After a handful of days, when the anger has subsided and he's ready to go home... his bus money has made a mysterious disappearance, and Tommy is officially stranded.

Atsushi is looking at him very hopefully. Ah, an orphan desperate for parents, even if they're just 'for now'.
It's really not worth hurting his feelings...
"Yeah." I'm gonna kill you, Dazai. "Yeah, I'm your... 'for now' mama." I'm gonna fucking kill you.

When Atsushi is deaged, Dazai drops him off at Chuuya's on his day off. In the process, Chuuya learns that there was something very wrong with Atsushi's childhood and does his best to give him the care he was missing, all the while dealing with the troubling discovery that people call him 'Mama of the Port Mafia' behind his back.
