Summary
What are you at all if you're not considered to be alive? Does that not make you real? What would deem someone worthy to be considered real to the eyes of someone else? Personality? The innate behaviour of a human organism? Perhaps its blood drained dry from the body?
'No,' you think. You think that there is something more to being real than any of that. It's hidden behind a set of thirty seven bones, nestled between the lungs.
And you need to see it.
Or, a variation of Ending 12 following the alternate ending to Floor 2, where Protag realises his coworker isn't considered as alive.

Summary
What's good enough to be considered alive? A plant is alive in spite of the lack of blood coursing through its veins. Or does the hole on Floor 2 care for a thing that breathes, with warmth underneath supple skin, for it to act as sacrifice?
And if that something mimics it to the best of its abilities even though it's not alive, does that count too?
Or, an alternative end to Floor 2 where Protag has less of a moral high ground.

Steven wakes up from a pretty dream of fields and flowers and finds himself crying. He doesn't understand why.
Steven watches as the ship launches into the sky and watches as he falls and falls into the field of flowers, still crying. He can't tell if it's from her or him.

Summary
“I’m making negative five thousand dollars each month?” Robert’s mouth fell open and he wasn’t sure he could afford to close it.
Sonar just nodded. “Sure are. Your credit card debt has credit card debt. I’m honestly shocked your credit score isn’t six.”
“So I’m just poor? That’s it?”
“Sucks to suck dude.” Sonar stood up, stretching as he yawned. “Bet you wish you’d sealed the deal with Blonde Blazer now, huh?”
“I’m not hot enough to fuck my way into triple my salary and a new suit.”

Summary
“Yeah, what the fuck, Robert? I’m—”
Flambae swallows hard, putting his lunch down on the counter. The weird feeling just keeps getting worse. Suddenly food sounds a lot less appealing than it did a minute ago.
“I’m fine,” he says. “I’m fine!” he says a little louder, so he can hear himself over the ringing in his ears.
Or: Flambae discovers the consequences of overextending himself.

Summary
He falls out of sight, and she braces for—something. God, anything really. Grief, regret, guilt and whatever else. She should be feeling those things, right? After all, she just murdered the guy. She looked right into the mech's cockpit (heh, cock) and made one-sided contact with brown eyes (god, they were so big and brown and angry) and planted the bomb anyway, all so that she wouldn't have to spend half of her life paying Shroud back for a working set of lungs.
But nothing comes. No grief. No regret. No guilt.
So she shrugs, and takes a smooth drag of her cigarette—and throws her head back because fuck, being able to smoke like she's fifteen again fucking rocks. Might just be worth the blood on her hands.

Summary
Robert Robertson had on his hands two new and equally troubling concerns.
Firstly: Robert Robertson has a new couch. He’s not even sure if it’s made of cherrywood.
Secondly: Robert Robertson had killed a man. And frankly, who knew what he was meant to make of that.
-
Robert has avenged his father - what happens now, and who will he be when he next gets back in the Mech? Is it a good use of Mecha Man's free time to furnish his apartment when it already has everything he needs (depressing floor to lie on, depressing water pressure to stand under, depressingly empty pinboard to throw darts at)? If SDN could go ahead and schedule that psych eval they keep yammering on about maybe he can stop ruining the vibes in the IKEA showroom a little sooner. Mandy, too, is suddenly left without a suit she's been yearning to slough-off more often for as long as she can remember and is coping extremely well with going cold-turkey on Blazer. She's never had more time to focus on corporate email-headaches and what a normal level of human sensation is than right now - and she's living the civilian dream. The insomnia will probably be fine. Remembering how to sleep can't be that hard.Postcanon, no established romance
