Summary
Dabi is doing his best to kill off his past self and move on with his life. He’s working a quiet café job to dodge his family’s drama and forget the person he used to be, but then Shigaraki Tomura walks in. He’s grumpy, wears his attitude like a uniform, and is exactly Dabi’s type…the human equivalent of a bad idea in a hoodie, which is a huge problem.
What starts as snarky banter over coffee orders quickly spirals into late-night texts and an attraction Dabi can't shake off, no matter how hard he tries. Tomura is chaotic and messed up in his own way, and Dabi is terrified of how much he likes it. It’s a messy, slow-burn ride about two damaged people trying to navigate a relationship while carrying enough baggage to sink a ship. Dabi is trying to outrun his past, but he might just have to stop running if he wants to keep Tomura around.

At least that's what he told himself.

After Rei's mental breakdown, Touya makes a promise to his mother. As she was dragged away, he told her he'd take responsibility of his siblings. At only 18 years old, he's working a full time job at the local daycare, being a full time babysitter to all of his siblings, and oh yeah- has an obnoxious bird that can't seem to leave him alone.
OR; Touya becomes a daycare worker and Hawks goes there to drop off his adoptive brother Tokoyami.

It's a very fun Todoroki family fic. The plot is iffy, but the slice of life is perfect.
This piece shines the most when it's just fluff; the way the characters interact and the sibling dynamics are fun. The plot, however, has many holes and isn't compelling as the story goes on. I was sometimes confused by ages and hero rankings and found myself trying to piece together the plot. There was a lot of information that was reworked from the canon to fit the plot which isn't my favourite.

Very cute and sweet. I love that they both know sign language and I do really think my head canon is that Bakugo is Deaf. I’ve seen a few fix now, and like this one, really cemented for me, that like my guy cannot hear properly.

“Your majesty.” The man in horrifically opulent robes bows low, the ridiculous sleeves pooling on the floor in a puddle of silk. “We have brought you a spoil of war, captured during the battle of Kamino, a rare and exotic creature for your household.” Touya sits up a little in interest, this was rather unusual as far as presents for his father went. The doors open with a heaving groan, and Touya leans forward in open interest. He was expecting a large cage to be wheeled in, containing some fantastical creature like a small wyvern or a kirin. Instead the servants yank on heavy chains, pulling in a young man with massive crimson wings.
“A harpy, your majesty, tamed and trained for battle by the enemy. He was captured in combat, and has spent the last six months undergoing training to become a suitable pet for the royal household. I give him to you, your majesty, to serve whichever role his highness pleases.”

I’m typically not a huge fan of Dabi/Hawks, just not my top pick. This fic gives me such a deep appreciation for the paring though. I love getting a glimpse into Todoroki’s family dynamics and this does in excellently.
This is very endearing and their personalities are excellently captured. Really living for the friendships in this one. The little moments are sweet and so meaningful.
Also the blood rituals made me melt. Very romantic.

Holy shit I was not expecting to be so obsessed with this fic. It took me a couple weeks to complete and it had me crying by the end. All my poor traumatized baby’s. They all find each other and get their happy endings. It’s wonderful. An absolute slow burn that I suffered though.
This writing has been stuck in my head since I finished it. I’m really impressed with the quality of the peace overall as well as how well all of the loose ends were tied up I’ve already started re-reading just because I know I missed so much of the foreshadowing. The author really knew what they were doing, and like had a vision.
The world building and cultural practises satisfies the anthropologist inside of me. There’s a lot of detail and a lot of weight, put on the story and world building. I wasn’t expecting to get sucked into the epic. The majority of the pairings I don’t even like and I don’t really find them in character however, they’re very well written.

Another banger. Love the urban fantasy. And all the characters together was very fun.
(2023-11-19) Update and this universe is still in my head several weeks later. Fuck it was well constructed and executed. Such a fun read and bless these goofy dudes and all the trauma they go though.
