Mike returns, hands patting at curls that were now carefully parted to the right and slicked down at the sides.
Will looks at him with his mouth agape in complete and utter horror, rubbing his eyes and doing a double-take because there’s no way this is real.
I need to fix this before the Party sees. They’ll never let him live this down.
And with that, Will approaches Mike, who's now sitting on the edge of his bed and tying his shoes. He steps between Mike’s open knees, holding the sides of his face to shift his gaze from his dirty sneakers and up into Will’s eyes.
(OR: Will hates Mike’s new haircut. Every time Mike tries to style his hair, Will purposely finds a way to mess it up, more often than not in unorthodox ways. But is Mike really as oblivious as Will thinks he is, or does Mike keep styling his hair this way for a reason?)
(OR: 5 times Will messes up Mike’s greasy side part and 1 time Mike retaliates.)

Everybody in the party knows everything about him. Maybe it wouldn't be the worst thing to keep a secret from Mike for a little while.
It's kind of exciting. Sneaking in a boy Mike hates.
Will shakes his head, trying to clear Mike from it for the night. Only when he looks back up at Richie, Richie has this conspiratorial smile on his face, like maybe Will isn't the only one eager to piss off Mike Wheeler.

“I am Sir Michael the Brave, sworn protector of this realm and—” His helmet gets tangled in his hair as he tries to dramatically take it off and Will giggles. “—Shit uh. Hold on. Gimme a moment. Stupid fucking helmet,” he mumbles under his breath.
“Huzzah!” Mike exclaims when he finally frees his curls from the durable metal. The helmet promptly slips from his hands and clatters loudly onto the hardwood floor.
They both stare at it as they try to remain composed.
Mike clears his throat and straightens, procuring a plush bouquet of roses from behind his back. “As I was proclaiming before I was so rudely attacked by my own armor— I, Sir Michael the Brave, have vanquished all foes, slain every monster and man who dare lay their eyes on my liege, and decorated this sacred dwelling in honor of the Feast of Saint Valentine.”
Or: Mike—the absolute horny dork that it is—concocts a “brilliant” plan to woo Will on their first Valentine’s Day together. Cut to: Mike dressing up at a knight, Mike’s unhealthy obsession with The Painting®, Will’s glorious ass, and shameless sex fueled by classic, blissful love.

Mike twisted his hand around Will's, and just as he was about to lean down and kiss his boyfriend in the stupidly loud terminal of Derry's shitty airport, he was interrupted by a voice that he hadn't heard in years.
"Richie! You fucking motherfucker!" Eddie Kaspbrak screamed as he ran over, and just as Mike was about to shout at the inevitable punch, he instead groaned when Eddie yanked at the collar of his shirt, almost choked him, and crashed their mouths together so hard that their lips were probably bruised.
And Mike, who still loved Eddie as much as he loved Will, couldn't help himself as he leaned into the kiss and did his best to return the franticness of it.
"Uh," Max said somewhere to the side. "What the fuck?"

Mike remembered shedding the name Richie Tozier as soon as he had arrived in Hawkins, like some sort of disgusting and slimy seal skin.
It surprised him to realize that being Richie was actually akin to coming home.

Richie choked. “Me? Flirting?” A laugh burst out of him.
It's summer in Hawkins, and Richie wouldn't mind getting to kiss a certain boy—maybe even more—if it weren't for the minor inconvenience of a massive earthquake tearing the town open like a giant gate to hell.
It’s a bit of a turn-off. But he’s nothing if not optimistic.

“You should eat,” Will says softly. “Why haven't you?”
“I am well.”
“That was not my question.”
Michael’s gaze flickers to him, something unreadable passing through it, then warming, just slightly. “Cleric,” he says, low, as though the word itself were an answer.
Will exhales, quiet. “You cannot tend to others if you do not tend to yourself.”
