There was something on both their minds, as it turned out. So when Will brought up the topic of the party and their family, Mike agreed completely with his fear.
They’re going to keep their relationship a secret so they can work things out themselves, and because they can’t afford for their relationship to get out. Not now, not while they’re only thirteen and living with their parents. No one will know, not until they’re older and can handle the problems that come with having a relationship like theirs.

“Mike?” He doesn’t even mean to ask. “What are you doing?”
There’s a long exhale behind him and then he hears a breath hitch.
“It’s my problem and you told me to deal with it,” Mike breathes. “So, I’m dealing with it.” Will wishes so badly he had something to physically throw at him. But he doesn’t, so he remains frozen there with his eyes closed and his nails digging into the palms of his hands. “That’s what you said, isn’t it?”
Mike seriously needs therapy, he thinks.
“I’m going to kick your ass if your hand’s on your dick right now,” Will protests, although nothing about his tone is even the slightest bit threatening.
“You’ll have to turn around to find out.”

Summary
Mike has always been protective over Will. They’ve always been so close and Mike has always had a base instinct deep in his gut to protect, to please. But it got worse because now Will smells all honeysuckle sweet and Mike is finding it hard to keep himself composed and control his new instincts pertaining to Will.
It really only gets more out of hand from there. Mike has made sure he scents Will every chance he gets, his attempt at trying to keep other alphas away from Will, and he’s sure Will has noticed and knows what he’s doing but he doesn’t comment on it.
