When Ren thinks of his mother, he thinks of laughter and science. Periodic tables, diagrams of human brains, eating ice cream in the rain. He thinks of bedtime stories and late-night movies and sturdy arms around his shoulders. Family trips with Futaba in the back seat next to him, playing Pokemon on her DS as their mother sings along to the radio, the motion of the car lulling him to sleep.
He hopes that's what Futaba thinks of, too.
