Summary
It's been two months since Cas was taken by the Empty. Two months since Chuck was defeated. Since Jack left. Since it became just Sam and Dean. Again. Back to basics. Dean should be happy. He thinks he should be happy; the world has been “saved.” The ultimate enemy has been defeated. But he isn’t happy.
Eileen convinces him to do something for his birthday. Nothing big. Just a pie — not cake — and some pizza.
“Can we dig into the pie now?” Dean sticks out his bottom lip, playing it up. This may be the most he’s talked in months, but the dinner has been fun, teaming up with Eileen to tease Sam always lightens the mood.
"Hello!"
All three adults in the room startle at the greeting and turn to find Jack standing at the top of the kitchen stairs, his hand raised, a small smile on his face. “I brought someone with me.” He moves out of the doorway and Dean hears the familiar sounds of shoes on concrete before he sees Cas step around the corner.
AKA: Two months after Castiel is taken by the Empty, Eileen and Sam pull Dean enough out of his depressed state to celebrate his birthday. Dean’s birthday present ends up being the return of Jack and Cas.

Summary
How do you write someone a last note? One that will be fitting for a death bed? One that expresses all your thoughts and feelings for them? But doesn’t seem too schmaltzy or ham-fisted?
Do you try to make them laugh? Remind them of the fun times when you lost your breath, clutched your side, fell to your knees from laughing so hard? But then will reading those stories make them laugh now, that once innocent breathlessness reminding both of you of how sick they really are?
Stede reaches out his shaking hand and places it on top of Ed's, rubbing the ring found there with his thumb. Ed’s breathing comes in ragged shakes, but he snorts at the touch and slowly blinks to look up at Stede. The corner of his eyes crinkle, so much warmth still in them.

Summary
Ever since Castiel has been back home after three months away, Dean has ramped up Friday Night Movie Nights. Spending some one-on-one time with his best friend (and secret love of his life) is great, but everything changes one night when Dean dozes off, cuddles up to Cas on the couch, and confesses his feelings for him in his sleep.
Equal parts stunned and elated to learn that his own feelings aren’t unrequited, Cas decides to show Dean that it’s mutual. So, he sets about planning the perfect evening for Dean’s birthday, including his favorite burger place, a romantic walk through the snowy park, all ending with a movie night and hopeful love declaration.

Stede and Ed move across the floor, feet tapping and hair twirling, Ed dips Stede three times in a row, each one getting lower and lower that they both practically end up on the tile.
The dark clouds threatening rain all afternoon finally deliver on their promise, interrupting Stede's attempt at an elaborate realistic chicken dance and Ed holding a candle solemnly in front of his chest as Pokey LaFarge's "Sister Andre" plays.

Shaking the nerves out of his fingers, Dean picks up the jar of ashes and stands over the flame. Rubs his thumb over the raised logo on the glass, smearing his own fingerprints.
“Well,” he clears his throat. “Here goes nothin’.”
And he spikes the jar into the heart of the flames.
