I wonder, then, what it would feel like to dream of dreaming. To experience this something that I wrought, for but an infinitesimal moment. And I dream up stories. Of fear and trepidation, of dread and relief. Of loneliness, hurt, and doubt. Stories of happiness and love. Always the storyteller, I am now an actor in my own play. A progenitor. An architect.
But now, the play is over, and it is time to wake up.
The fics in this series are very loosely, if at all, related to each other, but they all have something in common.

Which brings her to now, trying to retrace her steps and find it while avoiding her parents and their stupid friends. God, why'd they have to have brunch in this stupid fancy hotel anyway?
"Good evening, miss."
Darcy jumps in place, whipping around to face a tall red-haired man, wearing a uniform and a creepy customer-service smile. No name-tag.
"You've been wandering the halls for quite a while. Do you require assistance?"

“For you created male and female.” She whispers, feeling the tickle of her hair at the base of her neck. It’s been years since she’s cut it, but it’s becoming noticeable now. There are moments where she looks into her mirror and smiles guiltily at the waves cascading just past her shoulders.
“For it is sin to destroy your creation.” She whispers, tongue flicking nervously over her lips. They taste of cherry, left over lipgloss that she’d stolen from a younger girl a month ago. She still hadn’t confessed. Let her sin for a little longer. Let her taste that cherry, before it is ripped away.

Summary
As it turns out, vampirism isn't all eternal beauty, gothic themes, and social ladders. Mina usually glossed over the rest of the problems, never exactly diving into enough detail in the first place researching her turning until it was too late. However, nothing could've prepare her for the need that would tear through her, prepare her for what happens when a vampire is injured and starving. It makes one so animalistic, ravenous for any drop of blood from whatever poor soul they find.
But what happens when its the last person you want to hurt?
And how can she get herself to say sorry?

The.... business with the Teacher pushing boundaries started innocently enough. Perfectly innocently, really, it hadn't been anything to worry about the very first time Darcy felt the long, desiccated fingers plucking absently at the front of her uniform skirt. After all, she'd been in the middle of her reading for chemistry the next day, trying to concentrate while waiting for the call to the next Ritual, and she'd left the hand resting, without thought, on her thigh. She'd been absently picking at a ridged imperfection on its exposed and yellowed ulna as her eyes scanned lines of text.
She hadn't thought anything about the Teacher picking at her skirt in return. Why should she have? They were both clearly wishing for the excitement and promise of a Ritual. Fidgeting was natural.

When Ena's father gifts her what seems like a generic otome game that happens to feature a villainess with the same name and near identical features to her, she sees it as a personal attack.
When she's forcibly transported into the universe of said game in the place of said Villainess, where everyone either despises or fears her, she decides that it most definitely is a personal attack.
It's all just a mild inconvenience until Ena realises that there are darker forces at play that intend to either make her play the role of villain to the protagonist of the game, Mizuki Akiyama, or to take her place and suffer instead.
Either way, it seems there's just no winning for Ena - especially when it seems that no matter what people say to warn her, Mizuki just won't leave her alone.

Mizuki never wants to be loved. To be loved means twisting their insides out. It means exposing their ugly everything to another person, waiting to be gawked at. The real them, the one no one knew, was unlovable. They would rather never receive love than lose it.
It's all they wanted, so how could Ena ignore all that? They were wrapped around her finger. They're going down. They lower.Alternatively; Ena hits her head. They watch American television. Mizuki has 2 or 3 mental breakdowns. DVDs are swapped, among other things.
(There are two variants to this work - one where Mizuki is nonbinary and uses they/them pronouns, and one where Mizuki is a trans woman and uses she/her pronouns. Pick the one you prefer!)

An alternate timeline of "With Our Hands, Covered in Wounds" where Mizuki ultimately chose to keep running away from Ena. From that moment on, their trajectories diverged, seemingly for good. Each subsequent step Mizuki took, literal and figurative, served to further push herself apart from Ena and Nightcord at 25:00 as a whole. She believed that doing so was the only way to 'save' them from her own self.
But, in spite of everything that happened, Ena's love and determination would never truly fade away. Surely, she would one day get a chance to convey her true feelings to Mizuki, right?
