“You’re watching her sleep,” Ryuk pointed out.
“L watched me sleep. You watch me sleep.”
“Exactly.”
Abruptly, before Light could figure out whatever the hell that meant, Misa flopped over onto her back and whimpered out, “Just do it. You can do it.”
Light looked back only to find that Ryuk had phased back through the wall and disappeared. Just typical. Misa was writhing in the sheets like she expected to escape some invisible hold, crying unintelligibly and still very much asleep.
“I’ve done enough, you can kill me!” she cried.

Light catches Misa in the midst of a nightmare. He doesn't want to stay, but he can't exactly leave.

Summary
The Death Note was now in the hands of the Taskforce. But L still suspected Light and Misa. L knew Light was Kira but the rules of the Death Note cleared him and Misa. What would L do in his desperation to prove that Light is Kira?
L attempts to provoke Light into admitting he's Kira. Well aware of L's manipulation, Light turns the provocation back on L.
