"Mn," Lan Wangji said, and took off his outer coat—honestly, it might as well be a robe at this point—and pressed it into Wei Wuxian's hands. "Tie this around the wound."
"'M gonna get it dirty," Wei Wuxian mumbled, already seeing the red soak into the white. It really isn't fair, his fingers tainting every nice thing it touch. "Ah, but Lan Zhan, wasn't I good? I called you, like I said I would."
"En," Lan Wangji said. He brushed a stray hair off of Wei Wuxian's cheek. "Wei Ying is good."

Summary
Brave, Wei Wuxian would always call him. Brave and good and so very honorable. Lan Wangji doesn’t feel particularly brave right now.
“Brother,” Lan Wangji started, but couldn’t finish. His voice, a strained thing.
“Wangji,” Lan Xichen said, voice warm, amused even. The same voice when he catches Lan Wangji doing something he isn’t supposed to. A familiar pat on his head. “Wangji, you must like him very much to be this nervous.”
“Mn.” It was a pointless thing to deny.

Summary
As Yue Qi would soon learn, people usually met Shen Jiu first. The boy’s sharp face and ink-touched hair would carve itself forcefully into people’s minds, his looks flawless, unnatural, and deathly.
If lucky, people will then meet Shen Yuan. Unmistakably twins, Shen Yuan, too, holds a sharp face—though his kindness brought an illusion of roundness, child-like—and fine, black hair. He’s smaller, thinner, and less than Shen Jiu, but he’s also more. His eyes shine unnaturally under the moon’s guidance and his nails are black, although unpainted. His hair falls longer than Shen Jiu’s—to his toes—and there are brushes of markings along his cheeks and arms. Teeth too big for a human face jut out and rest on his lips.
Shen Yuan is less than Shen Jiu in terms of humanness, but more in terms of everything else. Godly, in a way that doesn’t matter; godly, in a way that raises fear in humans, rather than devotion.
