“This doesn’t have to be difficult,” Piers says, ripping an alcohol pad open with his teeth. He cleans the wound gently while Kennedy sits quietly and watches him, Adam’s apple bobbing as he swallows. His eyes are so fucking dark, tracking Piers’s movements languidly, blinks slow and unhurried.
“Maybe I want it to be,” Kennedy says finally, a little furrow between his brows that Piers absently smoothes out with the pad of his thumb.
Kennedy inhales sharply at the soft touch, long fingers curling around Piers’s wrist to pin him in place, Piers’s fingertips just barely brushing the hinge of his jaw.
“I don’t think you do,” Piers murmurs.

Every time you fall in love, it's supposed to be slightly different. And losing it is supposed to feel like losing a limb in your grief.
Leon stared up at the ceiling in the dark. Grey and pockmarked, crumbling into night sky. He supposed that at this point, he must be bioengineered himself to have survived losing more limbs than he was born with. But it was too hard to not fall in love.
