  2. Summary

This is a story that takes place years in the lake territories many years after the current series, using entirely my own original fan characters. The Clans are still mostly similar in structure to the books, but I make an effort to write about more LGBT characters, polyamory, disabled characters, and wholesome friendships. They are listed in roughly recommended reading order, but all stories are written to work as standalones unless otherwise specified.

A modern take using original characters in Lyra's world from the His Dark Materials series. Explores themes relating to identity, mental health, and how the heck do you get from place to place when your daemon is a settled draft horse and can't fit in the backseat of a car, anyways?

⚠️ spoilers for both dgs games! ⚠️

“I think it’s not out of the question for you to make a full recovery.” Yuujin folds his arms in front of his chest. “But you should also be prepared for the slim possibility of this being a lifelong condition.”

Kazuma can feel the true length of forever stretching out in front of them in the ensuing hollow silence. In two or twenty or forty years, still sleeping upwards of fourteen hours a day, still dealing with pain splitting his head open, still struggling to organize his thoughts. Still forgetting, and forgetting, and forgetting, retreading the same steps ad nauseam. Like God is at his shoulder, mocking: This is what you get for cheating death.

kazuma hasn’t fully recovered from his head injury on the ss burya. he and ryuunosuke deal with the aftermath

So here is the question, or this repetition of it: “What if you came to London with me?”
Ryuunosuke doesn’t look surprised, or at least, not as much as he should be at such an outrageous proposal. Kazuma’s neck burns with embarrassment. He must have forgotten. He’s always forgetting. He waits for the correction.
But Ryuunosuke just beams, ear to ear, eyes becoming crescents, like there’s nothing else he’d rather be asked. And here is the answer, always and forever: “Yes. Of course I will.”

I'll love you even if you never get better... I'll love you even if you get worse...!!!!

The Office of the Public Prosecutor updates their communications policy - and unfortunately, the new policy doesn't include communication by hawk.
Naturally, Simon and Taka have opinions on this.

I trust you will update the policies to include messenger birds. Carrier pigeons and other trained birds have a rich history of working for the government and military in many countries. I am surprised by the oversight in not including them in the policies to begin with. I expect that you did not have a hand in writing the policies, as you do not seem the type of man to flagrantly disrespect history and tradition in this way.

This is so devious and funny

After the Vera Misham trial, Phoenix is offered help. Wonder of wonders, he actually accepts.

“That’s it?” he finally says, incredulous. “We’re going to work together on better coping mechanisms for me? You’re not going to, like - diagnose me with schizophrenia or say I’m a danger to my daughter or ask me to explore my unfulfilled sexual desires?”
Dr. Koba very genteelly wrinkles her nose. “The works of Freud have mostly been overwritten,” she says diplomatically, and Phoenix barks out a laugh. “This same time next week?”
“Okay,” Phoenix says, helpless, and accepts her little cardboard scheduling card.

This one is sooo good I am chewing at it like a dog with a bone thank you !

    Summary

“Miles,” Dr. Adler narrows her eyes slightly, “given what we’ve discussed in the last couple of minutes, something tells me you’d like to come in for another session before Friday.”

    “Erm.”

Dr. Adler opens up her diary. “I have a one-off slot open on Thursday,” she looks back at him, “at ten-thirty.”

“Yes, please,” Miles sighs miserably as she pens him in for Thursday at ten-thirty.

Miles Edgeworth opens up. The results will shock you.

He dryly responds with a sniffle, “And you reckon I ought to celebrate that?”
WITHOUT A DOUBT,” Dr. Adler good-naturedly says, and passes him a tissue. Maybe Miles should get her an 8-ball too. She’s also someone who always knows what to say.

Godddd framing this one via Edgeworth's therapy sessions is so cool, I really love how this turned out!!!

“Mh,” Phoenix makes. “Or maybe I’m just over you.”
There’s a harsh breath at the other end of the line. It’s a blatant lie, but Phoenix has become very good at lying, and even better at not playing fair.
“I’m not,” Miles says, candidly, because he has never played fair, either. “Phoenix, I – I worry about you.”
    “Enough to come here?”
    The line stays silent.
“Didn’t think so. Don’t call again,” Phoenix adds, knowing that he will.

Wtf they are obsessed and mentally unwell about each other and I am obsessed and mentally unwell about them!!!!
