  Summary

  The knock itself was quiet, almost non-existent. Rengoku would definitely have missed it if they had still been whispering to each other. Even in his tired state, he almost dismissed it all together.

  "Come in," He calls softly, mindful of the not-quite slumbering Giyuu. The door opens, and Senjurou is standing in the dark hallway, staring at the ground. Even from the distance between them, Rengoku could see tears glistering in the dim light from the moon as they slide down his face. Kyoujurou extends one arm toward him, a silent invitation, which Senjurou accepts without delay. He steps in almost shyly, shutting the door behind him. One of his hands reach up to rub his eyes, though the movement was unnatural, like he was pretending to simply brush hair from his face.

  Summary

  Normally, the Shinazugawa brothers didn’t get along. It wasn’t really a surprise, as all siblings fight, but these two even Gyomei couldn’t get to be civil with each other.

  Although, that was normally. Today, the day before Mother’s Day, was different. Today, the brothers had a mutual agreement that lasted until the day after Mother’s Day to not fight, to just be brothers again. Tomorrow marks the anniversary if their mother’s death, and neither one could bare it alone anymore.

  Summary

  The lights are too bright.

  It's the first thing Rengoku Kyoujurou notices.

  The lights, with their low and distinct buzzing, are too bright.

  The next thing he notices is that only one eye is open. Based on the itchiness surrounding it, it's been bandaged up. That explains why half his vision is gone.

  It's hot, too. Hot and stuffy. He tries to lift a hand up to move the blankets tucked up to his chin but finds that he simply can't move. Sweat beads on his forehead and neck, rolling down. He can't even move to wipe it away. He tries again.
