The question is cautious. Kenny hears the true meaning in it and it makes him a little angry. He doesn’t let it show, not wanting to upset her, but he doesn’t like the idea of anyone thinking he’d ever do something he didn’t want to do.
“I’m right where I want to be,” he says easily.
Marjorine’s eyes widen a little. The spaghetti strap of her top slips down her thin shoulder. Her bra strap is baby blue like her eyes; it clings a little longer to the jut of her bone before it slips too. Kenny’s eyes watch it go.
Kenny can't stop looking at Marjorine's legs.
