Summary
“Time is 22:40. Begin audio notes for case SK-2217—Japanese male, between the ages of 18 and 22, found via anonymous tip. Time of death approximately 24 hours before exam. Mangled ID badge in pants pocket provided the name Akechi Goro, but no matching records have been found yet. Investigation currently underway.”
Akira clicks the button again to pause the recording and sets the manila folder containing the paltry amount of information they have on their newest guest aside. Talking to himself like this still feels a bit strange, especially tonight, when the oppressive silence and emptiness of the coroner's office makes every sound echo like thunder, but Sojiro will be checking his work when he arrives tomorrow morning, and he's determined not to mess up his first solo post-mortem.

Summary
"I'm… having trouble sleeping," Akira admitted lowly, kicking at a pebble beneath his shoe. "In general."
He glanced up as the silence hung a moment too long, ready for his dismissal, and saw an internal war taking place behind Akechi's eyes instead.
Finally, "Come with me." and Akechi turned on a heel and marched away.
Akira blinked, caught off guard. Akechi didn't turn to check Akira was doing as tasked, so sure that he would. Akira smiled fondly. Akechi's choice surprised him, but it was far from unwelcome.
He jogged to catch up, settling at Akechi's side. He didn't even think to ask where Akechi was leading him, just… content to be at his side again.

Summary
The Phantom Thieves have nearly secured their route through Maruki's Palace. There’s only one section left: The Twilight Corridor. A paradise where everything is perfect, and everyone is always smiling.
In order to enter that place, the Thieves must first prove they've "completed orientation" and can be "happy." There are points, there is a scoreboard, and they’re locked together in an experimental space where wishes can be granted by simply saying them aloud. Everyone has to individually earn 100 happiness points, or no one is leaving.
So what is “happiness,” really? How does Maruki define happiness? What the hell is a quantifiable happiness point? Is there any way around this? Don’t these stupid kids realize this is a trick to get them to fall back into the thrall of Maruki’s reality? And why can’t Goro earn any fucking points?
(Or: I've been watching too much Dropout Game Changer and I’ve built an Akechi torture chamber.)

Summary
Every time the bell chimed and Akechi’s sharp, guarded frame entered the shop, Ren’s eyes would lock onto him. It wasn't the suspicious look the others gave him. It was a look of profound relief, like Ren had spent the last year holding his breath and Akechi was the first lungful of oxygen he’d had since the world changed.
The problem was that Akechi looked like he was constantly waiting for someone to punch him. He sat in the booth with his shoulders up to his ears, nursing a coffee like it was poison, looking miserable while Ren tried to make small talk. It was painful to watch. And Ryuji hated it. Not because of Akechi—though the guy was still an arrogant prick—but because of the way it made Ren’s shoulders drop when the conversation inevitably stalled into awkward silence.
So, Ryuji decided to be a bro. If Ren wanted this guy around, Ryuji was gonna make it happen. He’d put in the work. For Ren.
