“Izuku, open up” Katsuki’s voice snaps Izuku out of his reverie. 3 more knocks. He goes to open the door, letter in hand, book open on his bed, and gives him a look of such intense scrutiny that makes Katsuki want to look away. Instead, he eloquently says “what”.
“Did you actually tell your mom to give me that book as a gift?”
“Is that so hard to believe?”
Izuku crosses his arms as Katsuki plops himself on his desk chair.
“Okay, well not in so many words, no.” Katsuki reaches out for the guide, only to find Izuku body blocking him.
“Izuku what the hell, let me see my book!”
“There, that! What do you mean “your” book? You wanted nothing to do with me back then in middle school!”

Matsukawa hums thoughtfully. “You know, I’m probably not the best person to give advice about relationships, but I’m sure your man’s going to be just fine. Scary-looking as you are, Iwaizumi, I get the feeling that you’re a pretty good husband.”
Iwaizumi isn’t sure what that’s supposed to mean, but it sounds like a compliment. “Um. Thanks?”
Matsukawa’s lips stretch into a thin, but not insincere smile. “You’re welcome. Look, you trust this guy of yours, right?”
The answer comes easily. “I trust him with my life.”
“See? There you go—”
But Iwaizumi isn’t done, and he continues, talking over Matsukawa. “Just not with his own.”
Doctor Iwaizumi Hajime's life has been going so well, it only makes sense that there'd be complications to follow. If only his husband would tell him what those complications are, he'd be able to fix things.

Summary
"Dazai..." Chuuya's voice comes out too tight and small, unlikely to ever reach Dazai. His hand lifts shakily, in some dazed attempt to stop him. There is panic wild and fast in his chest, the beginnings of hyperventilation, his breaths shallow and quick.
Something's wrong, something's wrong—
This hurts too much, it's not supposed to be like this—
His vision is blurring, and his head is taut and aching with the stress and anxiety and so much anguish that he can barely comprehend it.
The last of Dazai's hazy form disappears, far in the distance.
_______Forced into a difficult situation, Dazai has to leave Chuuya behind post-Corruption without his usual thorough check-up. Only, he has no idea just what state Chuuya was in as he was walking away from him that night.
Grief is a good teacher on how to value those you love. When he gets Chuuya back, Dazai uses his lessons well.
