Patroclus pursed his lips, almost embarrassed for Zagreus, “it’s… not exactly what I expected.”

His black, digital brows were set in a line as straight as the glower at the bottom of his screen. He does a single, slow blink, finger tapping against his hip as he debates on how much money he can reasonably make on a Charlie Morningstar-inspired white-noise machine (and whether the guaranteed customer complaints will be worth the cheap buck) when a movement over her shoulder draws his eyes.
He leans to the side, eyebrow quirking. "What's that?" Then promptly chokes on a surprised noise and shoves Charlie aside. "Holy shit, is that a human?"
Lucifer plays a prank on Alastor.
Everyone else has to deal with the consequences.

The boy tensed at the question, eyes shifting toward the ground and his hands tightening their hold in his robes as his mind worked to come up with what should have been a straightforward answer. Sukuna wondered if he truly had the gall to attempt to provide him with a lie.
“I, uh…” A bead of visible sweat rolled down the back of the boy’s neck. He appeared as confused as his words, which did not bode well for him. “Walked, well stumbled, actually, and found… it?”
Stumbled in?
Was he taking the King of Curses for an idiot?

"I'm your oniichan," Choso says with utmost gravity.
It's hard to take him seriously with his weird space bun hair and huge, billowing sleeves, but there's so much sincerity in his eyes that Yuuji can't find it in himself to tell him that he doesn't have any siblings, and that it's creepy for grown men to follow random middle schoolers back home.
Maybe he could have nipped it in the bud earlier, before Choso got used to it and made it a habit, but Yuuji didn't think he was a real person back then, so he hadn't really been thinking about the future.
After a near death experience, a stranger starts following Yuuji to and from school. He's pale to the point of looking sickly and has dark eyebags staining his face. He calls Yuuji brother. Yuuji lets him. No one's ever said he was smart.

They would want him to have someone else in the kitchen, helping him chop vegetables and stirring the sauteing onions while he prepares the fish. They would want someone new at the table, someone new to fill the space they left behind in the house. It wouldn’t be wrong, they insisted. He would always be their big brother, they said. But now the other boy needed him and Choso needed the boy too. If anything, it would be wrong not to take him in.
Choso is mourning the loss of his younger brothers when a new one quite literally falls into his lap.
