“I’m home, San Lang,” Xie Lian greeted with a tired smile. “Sorry again that I ended up being gone for so long. I really thought it would only take a day to deal with it all. Mu Qing even ended up calling down additional officials to help us speed things up.”
Xie Lian yawned, striding around the corner of Hua Cheng’s throne-like seat and lightly plopping down in his lap, snaking his arms around his neck and nuzzling his nose into the soft and cool skin of his throat. He felt Hua Cheng tense under him, his arms hovering around his torso for a couple of seconds before he started to relax. Hua Cheng’s arms slowly enveloped him, his hold becoming more and more secure as Xie Lian continued to nuzzle his neck.
“I’m just glad to finally be home…” Xie Lian mumbled, giving in to another yawn and closing his eyes. As Xie Lian’s breathing evened out, Hua Cheng was left with only one possible conclusion. That this must all be one extremely detailed, extremely evil, and extremely happy dream…
Or, Xie Lian unwittingly gets hit by a time travelling spell while fighting demons and is sent back to a time where he and Hua Cheng have yet to reunite.

Summary
Finally, after three and a half centuries, Xie Lian and Hua Cheng reunite when Xie Lian claws his way out of his own grave and drags himself to Ghost City.
While he is healing from the coffin, he learns that Hua Cheng’s beloved is still in this world, and he makes a promise to help Hua Cheng protect them, even though he hasn't met them yet. However, such a promise proves difficult when heavenly officials start appearing in Ghost City, along with puppets sent by White No-Face. It seems that everyone has their eyes on Ghost City with a common enemy: Hua Cheng.

Xie Lian was not upset about what he lost. He swore up and down that he didn’t mind being immortal, ashes wrapped around his neck. Not a god anymore. Not really. So, Xie Lian made a home on a mountain, plagued with white flowers that sprouted from his blood and his footsteps, twisting along every pathway. Another ghost came to live with him, between the flowers and the trees and winding river Xie Lian kept thinking of drowning in. He said his name was San Lang. It wasn’t. It was actually Hua Cheng, but Xie Lian didn’t know how to bring that up. It wasn’t as important as everything else—gardens, flowers, silver butterflies, and sorting out his dreams from his perilous reality. Hua Cheng made space, and Xie Lian let him.
Dead god, very dead follower. It was almost funny.
He wasn’t sure what to do, seeing as he didn't plan to ascend once more, or plan to hold power over a kingdom again. Xie Lian wasn’t staying forever. The mountain would open up, and he would leave to become something catastrophic. Or he would finally disperse. Who was he to say?

Summary

Part Two is about Faith and Forgiveness.Xie Lian has found himself in a rather unusual and dire situation.
Not only does he have two amnesiac ghost kings cooped up in his shrine, but Hua Cheng has mysteriously regressed into the form of a child.
