So this is gonna follow Martyn and maybe some other people as they figure out what the Canary means and how Jimmy’s involved with it.
I wrote a fic that comes before this called Do You Believe In Destiny?(‘Cause I Don’t Have A Choice) which was me writing out moments from a concept where a literal canary will visit the first to die and the Season’s winner, give them a sneak peek of their win/death, and then just leave. I’ve written all of them out now, so this is in the meantime while I wait for Season 8

This edition: what it says on the tin. Katie visits Nom’s grave for the first time three months after the events of Bannerfall SMP, and Nom gets to see his sister and they start to play some Farkle together.
This was also motivated by seeing Nom in spectator mode play Farkle against 4C in stream today

Hi yeah no I have no idea what compelled me to just start this fic but some people in Nom’s chat may remember me and another chatter known here on ao3 as SoupCam making up a random au in the middle of stream one day… I got the attack of motivation to start writing that and welp here we are.
I don’t know what I’m doing; this is just Happening Now I Guess, so, like Salvation, let’s figure it out together, shall we?

Summary
Modern sort of MCYT hybrid AU. Its primary story(thinking of adding a few random ones here and there) centres around Grian and his abrupt introduction to the things that are hidden in plain sight. It’s originally a chapter in my random mishmosh of stories, under the same name as the title of the primary story.
Occulta Apparentia means ‘hidden appearance’, and the whole idea is that the hybrids are hiding as humans. Instead of being called Hybrids, though, they’re known as Solua(plural being Soluae). If I manage to write the primary story, then I might post a single-chapter one that consists of all the notes that I made to explain it. I’m not expecting this to get really huge but I think it’s a nice idea and I want to keep it somewhere(it was a PAIN to write it out)

"You're not fooling anybody," 4C says with a sniff. He isn't even looking at him, studying his own nails. "We all know you won't bother."
"Maybe I should," Nom says. "I can talk to Scott. He… he'll understand."
"But why bother? Talking won't fix what's wrong with you."
"Because I can't talk to you."
That gets his attention. 4C turns a withering look on him. "And whose fault is that?"
It always comes back to this, talking to the ghost. "I still miss you," he says, twisting his fingers together so he doesn't reach out for him. He hasn't quite hit that low, yet. "I wish you could be here."
The ghost scoffs, and then Nom is alone again, to brush the crumbs off the table and stand with a sigh.

Eventually, his gaze settled on a small crevice break through the ground, hidden out of direct view by a bush.

A weak tugging sensation began to pull at his chest, pulling down towards the crack in the earth.
Now 4c liked to think he was somewhat smart. And if a smart person heard a mysterious voice calling them who knows where they would turn away in a heartbeat. Maybe he wasn't feeling smart in this moment. Maybe his judgement was impaired from metal crushing through his head. Maybe he was a fool.
4c took a step forwards, silently letting the pull guide him.

4c scrambled back, pressing himself even further into the wall. He could feel the slime of his skin soften against the wall, finding fluidity in his panic. "Oh god." He whispered. The knight's head shot up, his dull eyes piercing into 4c's. "Oh god. Please don't kill me."
The knight stared at him, unblinking and unmoving. His eyes were dark, pupils blown wide. 4c didn't release any of the tension in his body, trying his hardest not to move. He didn't want to set the knight off - he didn't want to be next. That's what they had supposedly been here for, after all.

4c didn't know what he did wrong. That didn't stop the kingdom from coming after him, and it didn't stop someone from saving him from a death sentence.
