Stan has stopped laughing. He was looking at Ben and Beverly with the same bittersweet expression. He met Eddie’s gaze, and Eddie smiled knowingly at him. Stanley smiles back, and they stared at each other for a long moment before they both huff out a laugh. Stan shakes his head, his curls bouncing on his forehead. He tucks them behind his ear, looking at Ben and Beverly again, and Eddie knew they were thinking the same thing. He knew they were wishing for the same thing.
They were wishing for the waiting to be over.
Which is a horrible thing to wish for, in these circumstances.
