Viserys cleared his throat and attempted to exude a commanding kingly presence that he had never been able to master. He turned to his brother before the small council. “You are to marry the lady, Alicent Hightower.”
Ice filled Alicent’s veins. This was bad, very bad. While she may have harboured a little crush on the rogue prince this wasn’t what her father had wanted. Rhaenyra would no doubt be furious at her. She looked up seeking out her best friend finding her cold gaze fixed on her uncle. Alicent followed her gaze watching her intended’s slight frown turn to a lopsided smirk as he appraised her. She was going to be ill.
or, what if Alicent had married Daemon instead of Viserys.

Summary
Alicent knew what her father wanted, and knew what could happen if she went directly against his wishes. However, she could never betray her friend in such a way and continued to push the king and Rhaenyra to reconcile after the tragic death of Queen Aemma. However, her father is not the only one who sees Alicent as a pawn to be used within House Targaryen.
Wishing to reconcile with his brother and have him back for his wedding to the very young Laena Velaryon, King Viserys orders his brother back to King’s Landing with the promise of the one thing Daemon wanted more than the throne: an annulment from his wife Rhea Royce. However, upon his return, Daemon learns that his brother has another bride already lined up for him: Lady Alicent Hightower.

Summary
The past few moons have not been kind to him. In a few days he’s lost his good sister, has been taken out of the line of succession, and delegated to nothing more but a burden to his brother, and to the rest of the kingdom as well. Even the elation of having been ridden of his horrible marriage to Rhea has been short lived, as his brother annulled one union to just form another. To Otto Hightower’s daughter nonetheless, the very man responsible for the whole mess in the first place.
Truly, perhaps the bride herself was the best part of the marriage.
or: Daemon tries to make the best of his new marriage in an attempt to upset those he thinks responsible for him losing the title of heir, and finds out he might enjoy it more than he thought. Alicent is confused.
