“Have you slept at all this week, boar?” A fair question. He hadn’t, no matter how much he told himself it was a random occurrence. Every day he felt more tired, and every night he slept less. “You look as if you would fall into the plate.”
“It is nothing to worry about, Felix, I assure you.” The words were difficult to form and Felix didn’t look half convinced, but still, he took his clean-eaten dishes away after one last look at Dimitri.

Summary
He remembered little of the original opera house, only the vaguest childhood memories of attending with Dimitri and their families, bored and uncaring for the storyline but appreciating the songs nonetheless. The moment the curtains raised, Felix noted something strange. From his vantage point he could see the managers and directors rushing around the stage, how it seemed less like getting actors into position and more like making last minute arrangements. It was also strange how Annette was wearing a dress too big, her makeup similar to the other women on the scene.
She would have told Felix and the whole world if she had gotten the main part.

Dimitri shakes his head in negation and smiles, shy, at Felix, “I am alright, really.” He doesn’t open the menu that rests in front of him, “could you order for me, Felix?” Dimitri looks at him through his eyelashes; his breaths are heavy and he resists the urge to run away. He will let Felix pamper him, he deserves it, Felix loves to do it. Dimitri wouldn’t describe Felix’s smile as wolfish, simply because all of Felix could be described that way, but the smile was so self assured and pleased that Dimitri couldn’t find another way to describe it.
Felix hides behind the menu and whispers when the waiter takes the orders; Dimitri takes the time to actually make note of Felix’s clothes: the crisp dark shirt and vest and a white tie, how his cuff-links shine golden when the light hits them right.
“I don’t suppose,” Dimitri starts, tapping the side of his foot on Felix’s calf, “that you will tell me what you ordered?”
“Of course not, stop being impatient. I thought you wanted me to take care of you today,” Felix takes one of Dimitri’s hands in his own, he pushes his thumb on Dimitri’s palm and brushes it over his knuckles, not paying attention to Dimitri’s foot under the table.
