“I can take much more pain than you ever could, bitch!” Prism raised an eyebrow at Flambae as he stomped up to Robert like a child. “I’ve got fuckin’ powers, I’m naturally stronger, faster, and better than you, Mecha-bitch.”
Robert could feel the heat rolling off of Flambae’s body, drying his skin out where it touched him. He doesn’t quit with his rep as he turned, keeping count in his head as his deadpan expression locked onto the fiery superhuman.
“Wanna bet?” Flambae and Prism both perk up a little, Prism pulling her phone out and typing rapidly. Robert swapped the weight and started working on the other arm, ignoring the way his shoulder protested with a straight face.

Summary
A collection of connected short fics centering around the idea of Nightmare’s gang plus Cross and other AU's having daemons.
Daemons are a part of someone's soul that has manifested outside their body in the form of an animal that best represents them. Children's daemons are unsettled, able to change shape until adolescents where they settle into one form. Most daemons are the opposite sex to their other half with only about 1% of the population having same sex daemons. You do not touch someone else daemon as it causes extreme pain and discomfort, only other daemons can touch each other. You also cannot go to far from your daemon, generally only a few meter's before the bond between you becomes stretched and painful. What you feel physically, your daemon feels and vice versa. It is considered rude to talk directly to a daemon that isn't your own.

X-Tale had been one of the few universes that didn’t have daemons. XGaster had seen them as a weakness, a hindrance, an imperfection and thus had written them out of the code completely. When X-Tale collapsed leaving behind Cross and Chara, they learned through Ink what daemons were. Both had been intrigued by the concept but hadn’t really thought too much on it. When Ink stopped visiting, when they were forgotten and left behind they screamed for vengeance, a cry that was heard by a dark God.
When Nightmare rescued them from the ruins of their world, when they left the shattered code behind, they never imagined they would gain so much. No longer are they just Cross and Chara. Now they are Cross-Elisha and Chara-Heshel. To the outside eye, Cross has two daemons, something that's never been seen before. But they know, they know Heshel isn’t Cross’.
TLTR: what if the norm was that most universes had daemons with only a select few not having them? What if Xtale was one of those few? What if Cross and Chara gained their daemons after leaving Xtale behind?

5 times Sniper almost saw Spy’s face (and one time Spy allowed for it)
The Spy stood before him, one hand clutching at his face while he panted his exertion from their fight. Between his fingers Sniper could see why the Spy had thrown that uncharacteristic punch - his knife had sliced a neat line up through the side of his blue mask, a thin trickle of blood running down his gloved hand. He looked cagey, and Sniper would almost describe his stance as nervous.

And is also possibly involved in criminal activity—what’s a rich kid doing alone in Crime Alley running from the drug ring’s henchmen, and how does he have personal contact with half of the Gotham rogues?
It’s all very annoying. Jason doesn’t care about the kid at all, nope, not one bit.

Taunt him? Anger flaring, Jason refuses to react to the persona that Jason himself had once helped Bruce to dress up as. Whatever this is, if Bruce wants to play dress up and look like a fool, who is Jason to stop him.

Bruce isn’t sure what to expect when he walks into the meeting led by Red Hood. Even though his recent ‘rescue’ at the hands of Hood had Bruce looking at the new crime lord's activities with a fresh light, there was still the more pressing concern.
Red Hood had deliberately gone for and pressed the emergency beacon hidden on his belt. It could simply be that Red Hood had observed one of them using it. Or perhaps this newest criminal to Gotham just thought Batman was partial to the billionaire as some rumors suggested.
Or Red Hood knows Bruce Wayne’s secret.

“Kid,” Jason interrupted. “Enough statistics. What the hell is this about?”
Robin slowly lowered the tablet with his powerpoint presentation and looked up at Red Hood.
“You care about Gotham,” Robin summarised. “Gotham needs Batman. Batman is missing and so is Nightwing. We need you to fill in for Batman.”
“You want me to cover Batman’s patrols?” Jason clarified.
“No,” Robin said. “I want you to be Batman.”
Jason bluescreened.
(Or: Batman and Nightwing mysteriously disappear before Red Hood has even started antagonising them, Robin is desperate, Gotham needs Batman, and Red Hood is Batman-Shaped.)
