When the world was created, everything spoke one language. Wind spoke to the hawk, the snail to the stone, the trees to the lakes. Louis had exactly three rules for himself. Sacred precepts that had kept him alive longer than most vampires in living memory:
1. Never stay in one place for too long.

3. Never fall in love.
Little did he know that he was about to meet the man that would cause him to break all three.

As indicated, this is a pre-canon AU which explores the origins of Louis and how he came to be the mayor of a small town named Oakhurst, two hundred years before the events of the SMP take place. It preserves Owen's idyllic memory of the man -- and all of the events that lead up to his eventual demise -- while re-contextualizing the character and his motivations. If you prefer your Louis to be a perfect saint, this one is not for you.
Mature tag is for mentions of past trauma/abuse (veiled). Eventual boys kissing in here somewhere (not explicit).
