Summary
The thing about plastic chairs is that they weren't a great substitute for an actual bed; the other thing is, Robert can't exactly afford to be picky and even if he 𝘤𝘰𝘶𝘭𝘥 the internal debate is still ongoing as to whether or not he deserves a mattress at this current point in his life.
So, the plastic chair stays and is staying for the foreseeable future. Besides, it's charming - in a depressing, minimalism-that-is-totally-not-a-reflection-of-his-inner-sense-of-worth way.
Or:The fic where Robert has chronic pain and Flambae has warm hands. The two of them will figure out what to do about that eventually, right?

This was their future, if Marty’s very hasty and sporting gaping holes story was anything to go by.

It wasn't just Drifter sent back to 1999. Umbra was taken along for the ride too as back up that Drifter can rely on... too bad it didn't change anything on that disastrous New Years Eve, but it sure adds some new and interesting dynamics amongst the Hex while they wait out the timeloop.

"We all have to work on ourselves a lot," you agree. "And we have to do things we don't like. But let's be honest -" You give him a sideways glance, which he deftly ignores. "Sometimes you think you're better than the rest of us, don't you?"
"I-" At first he seems to miss the soft, playful undertone in your voice, but then he relents. "Like I said, I'm not without my faults."

Summary
This gives you the CSS and HTML necessary to present a somewhat passable but rather primitive and
staticDYNAMIC emulation of the “green rain” / “digital rain” of The Matrix. Webkit is included for lead symbols' outline, in order to sharpen the contrast.A dynamic one could be faked nicely with .gifs (AO3 can run Doom, after all), but you can't (by T.o.S.) use Javascript within AO3 (not sure about T.o.S. w.r.t. external), so an actually dynamic font seems a little out of reach for now. But that's OK: 27 Nov 2023 I found a workaround for a dynamic background.
Full code and illustrations are included.

This is a flaming dumpster filled with CSS and HTML experiments. It's not instructional, but I post the code and my own explanations for both our sakes. Feel free to steal the code or ask me questions- I don't know what I'm doing. :)

I'm not going to say I take requests, but I'm always looking for inspiration.
It seems I've broken Ao3 yet again. I can no longer add more code to my work skin so we're moving on to part two!
