"Merlin though continued in his frantics. The magic around the room and around Gwaine seemed to push harder. The temperature seemed to drop and the fire in the hearth went out completely. Gwaine was sure if Merlin would just look at him he would be able to calm him down but as it was Gwaine was looking at his profile and his eyes never stopped anywhere.
"Merlin!" he tried a little louder. Still, with no effect, Gwaine was pretty sure he was about to pass out. His face had become very red his entire frame was shaking and his breaths were too short."
i.e. Merlin is having trouble adjusting to his life again after the horrors he was trapped in. The others are trying to deal with the fallout. It is not going well
I would suggest reading the first part of this story first. I don't think it will make sense otherwise.

“It’s Merlin,” said Elyan simply. “He’s the fun one with Gwaine so…”
Arthur interrupted him with a short laugh. “That’s a polite way of saying he’s absolutely useless. Anyway, never have I been more thankful to whichever Old Religion god had led Merlin and Gwaine to have their little lovers’ quarrel.”
“Oh, haven’t you heard? They made up this morning,” said Guinevere calmly, as though she were merely commenting on the frequent bouts of good weather rather than totally removing Arthur’s only source of happiness. “Lady Emilia had a bet going with her servants and was celebrating quite loudly when she won.”
“Is that wise, then? Leaving the two of them with Mordred now that Gwaine would happily help Merlin inflict torture,” said Lancelot and brilliant. The couple had an excellent way of leaving Arthur with a heart attack, all whilst maintaining their dignity and elegance.
“Meeting adjourned. Find Mordred immediately!”
Or Arthur needs an heir. Too bad Merlin doesn't approve of the chosen sacrifice.

“Mordred is a god, Sire!” nodded Leon. Behind him, Merlin snorted.
“Anything to add, Merlin?” asked Arthur, knowing full well he did indeed have things to say. Arthur just wanted to sleep. He had had one hell of a day filled with back-to-back meetings with nobles and townspeople complaining alike. Being king meant he could never catch a break, it seemed.
“Merlin, you would know who Emrys is, right?” asked Leon, shifting his focus to him. The knights also leaned in, waiting for Merlin’s answer. He took his time folding Arthur’s clothes before finally looking up.
“Yes.”
“It’s Mordred, isn’t it?”
Another long pause and Arthur had half a mind to send his useless servant to the dungeons for the very valid reason of annoying him. “It is,” agreed Merlin and instantly, Leon’s head snapped back to Arthur.
Or Merlin will go to any length to make sure he's not revealed as Emrys. Any length.

“You’re hurting me,” whined Aurelian. “Merlin, please let go! I swear I’m not gonna run. I can’t even go anywhere because I’m—”
Merlin paid no attention to his words and threw him roughly inside the Physician’s chambers. Gaius watched with mild interest from his work bench and frowned when he saw the boy. “Who the fuck are you?” asked Merlin, picking up a broom from the floor and twirling it in his hands expertly.
Aurelian sighed. It was like nobody actually paid attention to his words. “Prince Aurelian of Camelot,” he repeated duly. Gaius’ interest was further piqued as he put down his books and turned to the commotion.
“Impossible. Are you a sorcerer out to kill Arthur?” asked Merlin harshly. No point beating around the bush. To his shock, the boy snorted. “What is it?”
“That’s right, Merlin,” he said in a tone awfully similar to Arthur’s. “I absolutely travelled back in time just to do my own father in.” He laughed as Merlin’s jaw dropped open.
Or Arthur's (alleged) son travels back from the future and of course Merlin has to somehow send him back without causing massive panic. This is far easier said than done in his humble opinion.

And behind Peter, clearly visible in frame were the Avengers. All of them. Clustered around his desk, staring at the laptop screen with varying expressions of surprise and interest.

Peter Parker has a presentation to do online. Which would be fine, if he wasn't surrounded by hungover, argumentative, and overly enthusiastic avengers who found joy in his misfortune.

Peter didn’t exactly pay attention to the little things when he was mutating (there was too much pain and suffering to pick out any individual thing anyway), so no, he did not notice the ache of his teeth and jaw because it had just blended in with the rest of the pain.
Apparently Peter doesn’t look at his teeth enough because he had mutated like a year or two ago and somehow hadn’t noticed the fangs.

Peter turned his gaze from the large house ahead of them to his friend. “He’s not going to find out,” Peter said, more confidently than he felt. If he was being honest, it was a huge concern of his, too. Tony wasn’t exactly shy with his constant spying – or safety precautions, as he would say – but he’d done all he could: left his phone in Ned’s bedroom, paid for the taxi in cash, and told Ned’s mom that they were going to go back to the tower for the night.

“I don’t care what kind of beef you’ve got going on with Peter,” the woman continued, “But when a guy with a gun came in here to take your daughter, that boy didn’t hesitate to insist on taking her place, and if you don’t do everything you can to get him back, I swear, I’m going to every tabloid and newspaper in this town to tell them Tony Stark had a teenage son whether you like it or not!”
(Peter expected to have to keep his distance after stopping Morgan from being kidnapped. He did not expect Pepper Potts to do her best to parent him, despite the memory spell's effects. Reeling from the sudden influx of genuine care and support, it takes a while for him to get around to correcting a lie he told someone else, and never thought Pepper would believe in the first place.)

The picture changed again, and Pepper gasped sharply.
Tony Stark lay flat on his back.
The billionaire subsequently breathed in and blinked awake in a half startled grunt. Pepper and Happy watched in frozen shock as Tony watched the ceiling a moment before turning his head to the side. Then his head went back again, and he closed his eyes with a groan. The camera trailed over to the source of Tony’s displeasure. There at his side, still unconscious, was Captain Steve Rogers.
Or rather:
Several months after Civil War, a new threat presents itself, in which Tony, Steve, Peter, Sam, Wanda, Clint, Natasha, Bruce and Bucky are captured and thrown together on an Island that had been manufactured by Hydra. Trapped, The Avengers have no other choice but to rely on both their wits and one another as they brave the elements, face off against new foes eager to make a name for themselves, and of course, try and make their way home alive.
(So far, the only thing they can agree on is keeping spider kid from dying, which is a pretty low bar, but it’s a start.)
Oh, and they have no idea that their every move is being filmed and broadcasted live on national television.
