Summary
Wade very quickly wriggles his way into Peter's life. Peter's having a very difficult time determining why.
“We’re celebrating your birthday, remember?” Peter says. “And I took off patrol for this, so we’re doing it.”
“Why?”
“Because we’re friends,” Peter says. As soon as he says it, he’s questioning it. Wade has never called them friends before, and he’s always had vaguely hero worship thing going on. Maybe Wade’s not interested in friendship with Peter Parker. Maybe that’s been the reason Peter’s been feeling stuck—because he wants something that Wade’s not interested in. “Right?” -

Summary
The laugh Deadpool gives him is mean, and humorless. It’s definitely a laugh Peter has heard before, when Wade slides into Deadpool, but it’s never been directed at Peter – only at the worst of the worst, the true scum on the bottom of Deadpool’s boot. Apparently, that’s where Peter is at now.
And honestly, it’s fucking scary. That cold laugh, the relentless dedication to his craft. Scratch that, it’s terrifying, the predator-like precision, the way he will do anythingto get what he wants. Terrifying, and –
Hot. God, it’s really, really hot.
AKA
Deadpool beats the shit out of Spider-Man, and Peter learns something new about himself.

Summary
Peter’s always been good at pretending. Pretending he’s fine. Pretending he's not being crushed by patrol, pretending every mistake doesn't keep him up, pretending he gets more than three hours of sleep every night, pretending he doesn’t notice how his heart stumbles when Wade leans too close or how badly he wants to stay when he should leave.
It’s easier with the mask on- easier to laugh, easier to hide, easier to lie to himself.
But when a rained-out patrol turns into microwave burritos, bad movies, and Wade’s arm warm behind him on the couch, Peter’s running out of places to hide.
It was supposed to just be friendship.
Peter was supposed to know better than this.
(He doesn't.)

Summary
Between one moment and the next Peter rips the thing off himself, and he’s never been so simultaneously certain and terrified of a decision. It feels necessary, given how he’s treated Wade in the past. Like Peter was better than him because he had a morally superior code of ethics. The mask was like a wall that Wade hadn’t earned the right to see behind yet.
But that was all pretending. Making himself feel better. It was never Wade’s job to break down the bricks or to prove anything to Peter; it was Peter’s to stop acting like the line between him and Wade wasn’t already paper thin.
Maybe that’s why Wade had scared him so badly in the past. Like looking into a mirror.
