Hux felt calmer as the makeup went on, layer after careful layer covering up his glaring flaws, until at last he could slip into his character’s skin and forget that he was anyone other than a woodland Elf. The long red wig completed the look, and he motioned for one of the other actors to come help him with the corset.
As Rebecca tugged at his corset laces, Hux braced himself against the makeup table and stared into his own eyes in the mirror. Only after the dark-haired actress was beginning to tie off the laces did Hux let his eyes drop to his body in the reflection.
“Tighter,” he said.

Summary
Cye finally stopped gaping at him, and shook his head. “I’m not going to kill you,” he promised. He dropped his sack to the floor and dug around awkwardly in the leather pouch slung around his body. He had a lock picking set, but he also had that key he’d lifted from the troll’s body the day before. Sighing as he finally found the thing, he got close enough to the creature to fumble the key into his hand, then stood back with his knife at the ready, holding the torch aloft so that the creature could find the keyhole. A few moments later, the metal collar dropped away from the being’s neck and Cye saw what looked like tar or soot smeared on the creature’s throat.
He half expected the creature to bolt or maybe try and attack him. Instead, the being let out a long, tired sigh and fainted.

August doesn’t think anything of his sudden appearance, or his just as quick disappearance. He supposes on some theoretical level it might be nice to get to know his neighbors, although he can’t see the point in putting a lot of effort into the endeavor.
“I guess I’ll see you around,” Jude concludes his first visit, no eggs or sugar borrowed, because August rarely keeps unnecessary food items in his kitchen.
