Summary
The makeshift kitchen is a sorry sight, the cutting board and butane burner barely fitting on the table, even with the rice cooker relegated to a chair pushed to the far wall. It wasn’t as if they had any other option; Hanamura ruled over the hotel’s kitchen with an iron fist, and any of the facilities to be found on one of the other islands were more likely than not in no state to be used.
That alone should’ve stopped this little plan from getting off the ground, but once Kazuichi got an idea in his head, Jabberwock would freeze over before he gave it up. So, packed into the small space Kazuichi had been able to clear in his cottage, they had set to cooking.
Supposedly, this was all supposed to make for a nice, romantic evening.

“I don’t know,” Kokichi pretends to think it over, tapping a finger against his lips, “Maybe you’re plotting a crime against me right now.” Kokichi’s eyes narrow, and his gaze turns sly, “Maybe you’re trying to steal my heart!”
Shuichi doesn’t understand it. These little pokes and prods in the direction of flirting. He knows he isn’t the only one reaching out. He’s watched Kokichi’s cheeks go pink and his head duck to hide it. The nicknames and brash declarations of love sound a little more honest sometimes, tinged with quiet affection. On Shuichi’s more generous days, he lets himself admit that the signs point to Kokichi wanting to reach out in the same way that Shuichi does.
And yet, Kokichi pulls away. It’s frustrating.
“And if I am?” It comes tumbling out of his mouth before Shuichi thinks better of it.
Kokichi’s eyes widen, and his face goes carefully blank. The muscle in his jaw jumps when he clenches his teeth, and he swallows.
“I’d say,” he murmurs, violet eyes flashing with something sharp and bright, “That you have to catch me first, Mr. Detective.”
Then he’s gone.

In the picture, his hair is slicked back, revealing his glorious forehead, his hand on his tie as if he was adjusting it, and he’s looking straight into the camera with a small smile on his face.
How can someone so hot be so cute?
“Holy fuck guys,” Kokichi exclaims again before looking at his friends, “I think I’m pregnant.”
