He carried it with him through the years, while Sirius left a trail of crushes and girlfriends that Remus pretended not to mind. Jealousy became a familiar ache, something he learned to live with. Another secret he had to keep.
By eighteen, the weight of it all was almost too much. And then Sirius gave him a birthday present he would never forget... and Remus could not pretend any longer.
