Summary
‘I’ve told you before, baby crow. You have the North in you, the real North. You weren’t made to sit in some castle drinking grape-juice and shitting in a fancy chamber-pot’.
‘And I’ve told you, I don’t have a choice. I’m not a free man. This is punishment, for what I did. In King’s Landing’.
Tormund grabs him by the shoulders, so hard that for a moment Jon thinks he’s about to shake him. ‘Listen to me, Snow. You need to stop punishing yourself for things that happened in the past, and start living for now. If you don’t, you’ll get to the end of your life, when you’re old and grey and that servant of yours has to clean up your shit and remind you what day it is, and you’ll wonder why you never let yourself be happy. You think she wanted you to be miserable, your dragon-queen?’
On a ranging beyond the Wall, Jon Snow confronts the past and thinks about his future. Set around 2 years after the end of 'Game of Thrones'.

Summary
With Korra in the South Pole, Asami busy with her company and his brother off helping to bring order back to the Earth Kingdom, Mako finds himself at a loose end in the months after the defeat of Zaheer and the Red Lotus. To help him get out of his funk, Chief Beifong assigns him a case to try to solve at last: what exactly happened to Amon and Tarrlok after they were last seen in Republic City?
I really loved Republic City as a setting and the noir feel of Book One of Korra, and so I decided to try my hand at a police procedural/detective story in that setting.

Summary
The conversation goes on, but Ikki is only half-listening. Instead, she’s imagining it – a summer spent on the road, travelling from place to place, performing every evening. Seeing new places, meeting new people. She thinks about Auntie Kya, all the places she’s been, the stories she has about just about every place on the big world-map in Dad’s study. Perhaps she could see the whole world, just like Auntie Kya. Perhaps this could be the start of it.
The story of Ikki's teenage rebellion, and the strain it puts on her relationship with her father.

Summary
Azula is overwhelmed. There. She admits it. She’s never been fond of crowds, not even when she was younger and constantly surrounded by people: the girls at the Academy jostling for her favour, the servants and courtiers that milled about her father’s court, later on the heaving masses of Ba Sing Se. Now, after years spent on her own, being around so many people makes her panic. And that would hardly be appropriate, given the occasion.
Who are all these people, anyway? She hardly recognises a soul. Is that her eyesight, failing her – or her memory, perhaps? Or is she just so old that the world has moved on and she hardly recognises anybody in it?
On a solemn occasion in the Fire Nation Royal Palace, two elderly women have a conversation, and reach an uneasy kind of peace.

Summary
‘That bad, huh?’
‘Mmmm, what?’ Lin is distracted by the whisky. With her second glass she’s doing as Su tells her and savouring it. It really is astonishingly good. Wherever the family from Gaoling are now, she hopes they’re still making whisky. Or that they wrote down the recipe, at least.
‘Whoever your dad was, it’s so bad that you have to down half a bottle of my best whisky before you can even talk about it’.
Good old Su, exaggerating as usual. ‘Not really. Better than it could have been, to be honest’. Lin takes another sip and smiles reassuringly at her sister, who’s looking at her with green eyes full of concern. ‘His name was Kanto and he was from Ba Sing Se. Mom and him had a thing in Republic City, but it didn’t work out and they lost touch. I tried to track him down, years ago, but no dice’.
One evening in Zaofu, a couple of years after Book 4 of 'The Legend of Korra', the Beifong sisters get into a bottle of whisky and onto some home truths.

Summary
Her cousin was not sitting in triumph on Thingol’s throne, but on the low steps leading up to the dais. His head was bowed, and when he raised it to look at her she breathed in sharply. He looked ghastly, his cheeks hollow, his eyes burning with a feverish glow. He looked mad, as mad as his father, when in the flickering torchlight amid the endless dark he said those terrible words that doomed them all.
Galadriel remembers the first time she met her eldest cousin - and the last time she saw him, at the sack of Doriath.

Summary
Like so many things, great and small, it starts with Aang and Zuko. The Avatar and the Firelord, the great friends, the makers of their age. And at this precise moment, a pair of tired middle-aged men slumped on the couch in Zuko’s study, catching up privately now that negotiations have finished for the evening...
Izumi and Bumi are sent to Ba Sing Se one summer by their fathers, to help an ageing Iroh out at the Jasmine Dragon. Nobody realised at the time they were starting a tradition that would go on for years.

Summary
She can hear old Iroh’s voice in her head, telling her that between them good tea and the passage of time can heal any ill. But right now tea – not as good as Iroh’s, granted, but still passable – isn’t doing anything, and it doesn’t feel like time will either. Ten years will pass, twenty, and she’ll still feel ripped open and raw. Did Iroh even believe that crap, or was it just a platitude? He lost his son – could even an ocean of tea and all the time in the world heal that pain?
After Tenzin breaks up with her, Lin is heartbroken, humiliated and unsure where she goes from here or what there is for her in Republic City any more. A visit to the Fire Nation helps her to see a path forwards.

Summary
He hasn’t spoken to a shaman, there isn’t one nearby as far as he knows, but he doesn’t need a shaman to tell him what it all means. The dead are calling him to join them, and it’s time he listened. He stops working for a moment and takes a look around him. This place has been good to him – far more than he deserved, after what he brought here, what he allowed to happen. The landscape is stark and spare, about as removed from the green hills of County Down as it’s possible to get, but it has come to feel like home, these last ten years. At the same time, he feels no sadness at the thought of leaving. He is ready.
Crozier, ten years later.

Summary
No, she needs to get back to basics. She didn’t become an Air Acolyte for love, she did it because she felt out of sorts back home, with the endless hustle and bustle, the crass commercialism. The Way of Air, with its focus on freedom and spirituality and compassion, appealed to her. More than that – it chimed with something deep within her, like this was the life she had been born to lead. So she became an Air Acolyte. And she will remain one. Even if it means never seeing Tenzin again, never seeing his dear face or hearing that world-weary sigh that makes her giggle. Even if it means seeing him every day, hand in hand with Lin Beifong, their pale serious children following them like little turtleducks.
The story of how Pema came to Air Temple Island, and of her relationship with Tenzin.

Snapshots of various members of the family one Reddit user described as 'a dysfunctional mess of women'*, from Gaoling to the North Pole and from the decades after the end of 'Avatar: The Last Airbender' to some years after the end of 'The Legend of Korra'.
*Which I think is unfair. Baatar Jr is also very dysfunctional.

Summary
How will the events of the War of the Five Kings, the Long Night, and the harrowing of King's Landing by Daenerys the Terrible be written about by future Westerosi and Essosi historians? A historiographical journey through the centuries, with visits to the archives of Winterfell and Eastwatch-by-the-Sea, a feminist reappraisal of Cersei, and some angry letters to the editor of the King's Landing Clarion.
