Summary
Riley is a corporate office worker and empty shell of a man. An unlikely opportunity from a long-dead relative gives him the chance to start over. Months later he's finally making progress toward peace and contentment, when he meets the town recluse next to a quiet lake. Now he has to navigate what he's certain is a one-sided attraction, while enduring a never-ending barrage of anxiety and self doubt.
The night was still young, his house was clean, and his farm chores were done for the day. There really was nothing he needed to do and nowhere he needed to be. He could relax and do whatever he wanted, except...
He turned to look at Sebastian. For some reason he was still there, in his home, and now it was just the two of them. Riley felt more than heard the buzzing in his ears, and sensed something like dots crowding his vision. The day had gone exactly as planned but now they were alone together and Riley didn’t know why. He suddenly found himself on the brink of panic.

Everyone loves the farmer. It’s starting to drive Sebastian a little a mad. Why does everyone care about a stupid farmer? Even his best friends are acting funny, his MOM pays the farmer compliments when he’s not even around!
It’s ridiculous, maybe he’s a stalker. Sebastian knows he’s running around town, buttering everyone up, everyone except him.
It’s fine, it’s better that way. Sebastian is content without ever meeting that creep. Maybe creep is too harsh, No- no it’s not. Anyone who figures out everyone’s favorite gift and talks to them every single day is a creep! Even if he has beautiful eyes, long flowing hair, strong arms— no. He’s a stalker creep who Sebastian does not like!

Bad idea.
Terrible idea.
Disgraceful idea.
Couldn't have made a worse possible decision in your life.
Perhaps, if you had committed this grave mistake while you were drunk, it would be easier to forgive yourself. To claim that it was a spur of the moment act, the fruits of a drunken stupor, fueled by hormones and alcohol and all the thoughts that rear their ugly heads as soon as inhibitions start caving to the claws of impulse. You could claim that you did not mean it, did not want this, that it was all one big accident, the consequences of which you now have to live with.
But that's not quite what happened back there, was it?
