Metal Sonic knew that Dr. Eggman was able to love a child. He had the resources to give them the world a thousand times over. He’s willing to provide them with all of the love and support they needed to thrive under his care. He knew that Dr. Eggman was both willing and able to be a good father.

Metal Sonic hasn't been deployed into battle or been a part of Dr. Eggman's schemes in a while. With nothing to do and nowhere to go, he uncomfortably ruminates about the harsh, undeniable truths that have plagued him since the Metal Virus epidemic... That is, until he's summoned to participate in the new CrossWorlds races. He has no more time to think about any possible insecurities or flaws; there's only time to race-- and defeat-- Sonic the Hedgehog.

This fic is based off of character moments introduced in the IDW comics, namely the "Reflections" comic, along with the rival interactions and gameplay in Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds (and a few other games that Metal's appeared in). Ultimately, the story is told through Metal Sonic's perspective. I want to give him more of a range of depth and emotions the comic dances with that haven't really come full circle at the time of this writing
Despite being based off of his character from IDW and tidbits from the games, there are no actual details about the arcs and in-depth knowledge about them isn't necessary. This is a small collection of short stories that may have additions later.
