for reasons, prince nightmare and prince cross are forced into a marriage. the two have never heard of the other, outside of a few passing conversations. the marriage is bad enough, but cross is also being taken back to his new husband's kingdom, where he's expected to essentially be the perfect pet. agree with what he says, stay quiet until prompted, smile like you're happy to be there...
he had to leave everything behind, including killer, the one he is closest to in the entire world. already mourning his loss, cross now has to navigate this strange place with all its strict rules and a husband that seems to hate him. at least his brother in law doesn't seem all that bad.

The Fell brothers are on the surface and out of the hellhole they call home. Edge has a good job and friends and hobbies. Red is still the piece of shit he's always been, but now he has Sans, who despite his best efforts to hide it is the best thing that ever happened to him.
If Red would stop making excuses and allow himself something good for once, he could actually be happy for the first time in his life. But maybe he's right that everything is temporary. After all, in a world where there's still an undeniable tension between monsters and humans and everything can reset at any time, is it even worth getting attached? Is being happy, even just for a little while, worth the pain that comes with it if everything he loves is lost?
