“I know you, don’t I?” She remarks absentmindedly. The realization that she spoke out loud gets to her almost immediately but she lets no reaction betray her. Instead she waits for an answer, because this boy truly is familiar. And also because she is allowed to speak now.
The man glances at her out of the corner of his eye and then turns to her, deeming that she was addressing him after all. His hair is split somewhat messily down the middle and brushes against his neck in a way that tells her he usually has it shorter but hasn’t gotten around to cutting it.
“I’m not sure.” He responds.
She notices that his voice is hoarse and warm in a way that could only be from overuse. Mafuyu isn’t entirely sure if she should continue this conversation, they don’t seem to know each other and if they somehow do and that feeling of familiarity isn’t her mind tricking her, then they don’t remember each other well enough to mean anything anyway.
But she speaks again, continuing a conversation that three months ago she never would’ve started in the first place.Or
