Summary
In pursuit of a sorcerer, Arthur and his knights stumbled into a cave. As the ceiling collapsed on them, Merlin had no choice except to reveal his magic or let all his friends die. That choice was not a choice at all.
As Merlin's magic began to run out and tensions with the knights run high, it seemed he might have made the wrong choice after all.

Arthur had hid everything. Merlin snuck out of the bed anyway with a dimly lit candle, gently scouring the cupboards and drawers. The soft shift of wood and the slow scan of eyes.
As the chance of finding anything sharp decreased, his desperation increased. At some point, the candle was blown out and left to roll on the floor somewhere. His movement became frantic – feverous. Drawers rattled and closets slammed with no interest of Arthur’s presence.
He wanted it.
The catharsis. The release. The blood. The cuts. The pain.
He needed it. All of it.

Merlin has a nightmare and wants to cut while in the beginning of his recovery.

“I told Arthur I had magic.” He states. He looks down. Not shameful, but as a shell of the man he once was. “And told him to kill me.” Merlin choked out, beginning to notice the tears filling his eyes and throat.

“One more step and your friend is dead! Drop your sword!” Arthur nodded, “Okay, okay.” he agreed. Sword falling to the floor. Merlin’s brows furrowed. What the hell was Arthur doing? He shook his head in the man’s grasp.
Arthur didn’t bring any other weapons with him today. Merlin hunched his shoulders, hating the feeling of the man touching him. “You tryna die? Stop squirming! Or would you like to say some last words to your mate?”
Merlin gasped for air as the man’s hand left his face. “Let him kill me!” he screamed.
“Are you insane?!”

Gaius and Merlin talk about what happened while he was out of town. How he begged Arthur to kill him.
Bandits attack, ruining any sense of peace.
Merlin stays clumsy.
He falls asleep in Arthur's arms after crying.------<3

"Maybe Merlin was a lost child. Never been able to get to 18 without… this burden."
"Merlin. I’ll help you.”
“Kill me. I don’t want to feel anything anymore. Burn my corpse in the courtyard - serve it for dinner, for all I care.” He laughs, swaying towards Arthur’s chest a little. Arthur doesn’t move. His throat feels scratchy. What’s he supposed to do or say?
“I know you want me to die.” Merlin states. Arthur’s brows pinch and he shakes his head with a wince.
He wanted to retire to his chambers forever. He wanted to throw up his guts.
“You’d enjoy it, right - killing me?” Merlin asked as if he was already certain of the answer. Pale and frail fingers twisted the sword so the sharp edge scraped against the King’s armor. Arthur gulped but made no intention to move.
Merlin slid his fingers up the side of the blade, leaning in closer until his lips were centimeters from Arthur’s ear. “You don’t have to hide how you truly feel. I accept all of you - even the part that wishes people like me dead.”
