Jake feels a hand tug at his elbow.
“Mama, please. Stand up for me,” Lo’ak begs quietly. “Payakan saved me.”
Jake looks at him and takes a second to truly look.
His son’s eyes gleamed with unshed tears, face contorted in a pleading expression Jake had never before seen.
And shit, Jake is always soft on his kids, would uproot the whole world if they asked him to.
He isn’t even aware he’s standing till he hears his own voice resonating in his ears. “That’s utter bullshit and we all know it.”

“I won’t tell them a thing,” Jake murmurs, running his fingers through Lo’ak’s braids. “I promise, baby. If you want to tell them, you can. It can be later or it can be never, no judgement.”
Lo’ak listens to his bearer’s heart beat.
He was scrunched up against Jake’s chest to have his ear pressed above his heart, being almost as tall as the omega himself now.
“You can tell mom and dad,” Lo’ak finally says. “I’ll tell everyone else. Just…not now.”
“Whenever you want, baby, I’m right here,” Jake whispers.

When Lo’ak was little, he had had a serious problem with leaving Jake.
He screamed, cried, and yelled, absolutely refusing to go anywhere or do anything unless Jake was by his side.
Neytiri said while the severity of his possessiveness was abnormal, it made sense considering he was a young alpha and was very connected to his bearer.
So Jake tried to slowly pull himself away from Lo’ak; it only made him cling on even tighter.
The first time Jake tried to sleep away from Lo’ak, he had cried till he was on the verge of passing out and there had been no amount of consoling Jake could do to stop the tears.
Jake remembered it like it was yesterday.
